    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

Ok well I got through it last weekend and monday through wednesday i had to have my Wife turn chlorinator down to 30 percent because the Cl was getting too high. Was a great feeling. Then today i come home to no Cl again even though i had Wife turn cell up to 100 percent. I had no bleach...

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

Not sure if this is normal or not, seems like it is but i am desperate to figure this out. If i look right in front of pool lights i can see a bit of cloudiness in the water. Can only see it right in front of the lights. Could that be algae that i just cant see in any way except passing in...

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

I do have nitrates but no nitrites or ammonia to consume chlorine so i figure those are just there to stay. 5 to 10 ppm on some test strips the pool store let me borrow. Water temp actually climbed to 91 today when i tested. I borrowed nitrate test strips from pool store and i do have...

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

I dont have it in front of me but i did that earlier today. My readings gave me the potential corrosive message. From latest tests i entered 4 free and total chlorine, salt was 3600, CH was 200, CYA 50, ph 7.4, TA 90.

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

On a side note the pool has always been clear aside from a couple of floods where dirt and mulch washed into it.

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

I brought CYA up to 50. I actually exchanged salt cell because at this point i dont know what else it could be. I passed the overnight test so its not organics/algae. What is really strange is that even with the new cell at 100 percent it cant keep chlorine over 1 ppm. I also still notice a...

    Hayward T-Cell 15 Warranty Replacement with GLX-Cell-15-W

Actually, I got a wide range when the problem first started the test strips were 2900, cell read 3200, and two seperate pool stores with the meter read 3500 and 3600. I was not sure which was right.

    Hayward T-Cell 15 Warranty Replacement with GLX-Cell-15-W

I never knew that was a way to tell. Good information. Its been as much as 300 ppm difference from time to time but i didnt check that regularly as i usually kept my salt levels stable. Again, just assuming the cell was not producing because at 100 percent all day and night it was not able...

Do you know the difference in the two cells or why one does not carry the same warranty?

    Hayward T-Cell 15 Warranty Replacement with GLX-Cell-15-W

Have not checked today but yesterday is was 3600 and instant was 3500. I drained a little and added fresh water last night to get instant down to 3200. My salt has risen daily as I've added liquid chlorine. Its been a struggle bringing down salt every 3-4 days. Reason we think its bad is it...

    Hayward T-Cell 15 Warranty Replacement with GLX-Cell-15-W

Hello, I'm sure this has been addressed but could not find a specific post in the forum. I have struggled with chlorine in the pool for weeks and tried everything but cell replacement. My pool company agrees there may be an issue and says I have to replace it with a GLX-Cell-15-W. The...

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

I am, just seems odd that i have no sign of algae anywhere. Water looks as clear/perfect as possible. I am, just seems odd that water is pristine, no sign of algae or clarity issues whatsoever.

    Massive Chlorine Consumption Mystery

Good Morning, I've had an ongoing problem with keeping chlorine in the pool for a couple of weeks. It's accelerated the last week or so. Water continues to be clear and no sign of algae. Ive brushed three times a day for the past week and shocked pool twice daily for a week. We had a lot of...

I just see the chlorine bubbling up from the jets so wasnt sure if it was ok to have someone standing there while it was coming out.

I was able to run SWG at 100% all night and had 8 ppm chlorine at lunch today. I plan to inspect and clean cell tomorrow. One strange note, I now have white flakes (almost looks like rock salt) floating in the pool. Not sure if this is being discharged from return or some other source. Any...

Just curious, if algae was eating up all the chlorine would i see a difference in total chlorine an free chlorine? I show tc and fc the same. Basically showing no combined chlorine.

Helllo all, having some concerns with chlorinator. We have finally had a number of hot days in a row and my pool with no shade has reached 92 degrees. Ive had to push chlorinator all the way up to 80 percent to keep 3 ppm free chlorine in pool. Cya is 80. Usually i run it 20 to 30 percent...
