I really hadn't thought about that. I guess one nice thing about it is that I can easily access it by walking on the spa top. I'll have to see how the robot works. I think it's too tight so the robot at least won't get stuck in it, but admittedly it's an area that probably won't get as clean...

Neighbors are friends, they've been cool. We've been using a pretty decent porition of their front yard for ingress/egress of equipment. Unfortunately, this project is way past the initial deadline (surprise, surprise). They want to re-sod their yard and it's peak season for that. I feel kind of...

Thanks for the feedback (as always). A few responses: 1) Thanks for assuring me on the coping. I was just out there with my wife, and I told her the same thing. This looks WAY better than I expected, it just blends in so nice with the travertine that I don't think it's needed, plus that coping...

Austin, TX - New Pool Build - About to sign and need suggestions!

No, I faced the same thing. There are two camps in ATX: 1) Outright won't do it 2) Will do it, but will try to convince you not to or tell you horror stories Along with the feedback from another person on this thread, I just told me PB early on, it's salt or no pool. You just have to draw the...

Now with the bar stools. Since the spa coping is elevated, the waterline will be about halfway up the bottom of the two tiles. I measured and struggled so much with the height, but ended up with a 22.5" finished height. Water level is slightly above the belly button at that height. I did google...

Austin, TX - New Pool Build - About to sign and need suggestions!

Welcome to the club! I'm also in Austin. What part of town are you in? The video link isn't working for whatever reason. The marble also looks great! I'd look at 3.5-4' minimum, especially given your length as a true swimmers pool. Also, depending on your shade situation, shallow/small pools...

Austin, TX - Above Ground Salt Water Pool in Canyon - Construction Started 09/30/19

Ran outside to snap some shots as some work was done last weekend and earlier in the week. All I need is my bar stools to be put in and we're ready for plaster (which didn't happen yesterday). Glass tile was put in on steps and the interior of the spa. More glass added to the spa. Custom made...

Thanks, I asked my PB a few weeks ago, and I thought he said after they shoot the pool, they come back either later that day or the next day to scrub/brush/wash (something to that effect) and then immediately fill. He also mentioned that they do not stop filling. I'm in waste water measuring, so...

Still slow go over here. We had a lot of rain this week, but I've now started to really squeeze my PB given how slow things are and the general uncertainty of everything. He said we're scheduled for fencing early next week and plaster/pebel next Friday, we shall see. Water would go into the pool...

Making some progress, we're starting on the kitchen. I just ordered a ton of stuff: grill, side-burner, fridge, access doors, etc. The kitchen will be split-face that matches the travertine we just put in. This week and next week my bar stools are coming in, the coping for the spa top, the...

Are you doing any sort of fountain/water-feature, that's typically what that plumbing would be for.

I'm 99% sure it's pump driven, but I may have confused that with the concrete fountain/bowls.

Some shots of the travertine at various different stages. These were all shot at dusk. The tile definitely changes mood with the ambient light.

    Fixing depth profile

I had the same thought. I’m not sure I’d feel great about just pouring concrete. I’d be concerned about the plaster longevity. However, if they could tie in rebar mats into the existing gunite, I’d feel better. Looking forward to seeing Brad’s response.

    Fixing depth profile

Feaker, I really went back and forth with depth, and similar to you, I felt my pool was too deep with too aggressive of a depth fall off. One issue I face in Austin with the direct sunlight my pool gets is the temperature. My neighbor three houses down has a similar pool in an almost identical...

They're laying down the Travertine pavers today. I'll try to get pictures later today from my wife.

I think it looks quite nice. I haven't gone in to the pool to see it from there. There's also a piece of wood still in the corner with a piece of paper taper to it which was used to attach the string which was used to level off the cement, so you can see it in the picture at the corner. It'll...

Glass on the edge was put on today! It's interesting how much it changes color depending on angle and sun. I can't wait to see what it look like with water!

Once the glass gets in and pavers, it should look pretty slick. For now it’s just slow as molasses progress :/

Austin, TX - Above Ground Salt Water Pool in Canyon - Construction Started 09/30/19

Things have been slow, partially due to a ton of rain Austin has had. Also, my pool builder and the person on his team that designed the pool had a mis-communication and didn't cut the concrete at the 45 degree in-angle (knife edge) that we agreed upon, so a team spent two days cutting concrete...

    New build about to start

Looking good, I think you're basically caught up to where my pool is at, and you did it in 1/20th the amount of time :/ Mine's making slow progress with coping and waterline tile now, you're not that far from there!
