Slamming - Running out of reagents! Ruh oh.

Heya @frogabog I've just been a bit spotty with doing the recordings into the app. Typically when you see a 10.5, that's after adding up to 20 the night before or in the morning before I leave for work and it's the result after losses over that time. I've not been re-testing 30 mins after the...

Slamming - Running out of reagents! Ruh oh.

Ah ok thanks @Fast7 I will do the 1ppm to save. @frogabog looks like it's going to work out fine. There's a company that specifically does courier runs for $17 for the 1st 5lbs, so all in I'll be about about $100 CDN for the refill kit from TF Test Kits. Should give me a lot to work with. I...

Slamming - Running out of reagents! Ruh oh.

Yeah I’m looking to get the reagents to Washington and then pop them over via a courier who does that a lot. The amazon.ca prices are crazy. I have done all the googles ;)

Slamming - Running out of reagents! Ruh oh.

Sooo, since I misfired and had to restart my slam, including having a higher FC target due to my CYA mistake, my brand new 2006 (not C) kit is just about out of trirating agent. I don't think I will be able to get more before the slam is complete. What to do? I have an OTO kit and strips, but...

In other news, I lost 3.0 FC last night. I guess it's back to the SLAM. This time I'll go for the 20, now that I know my CYA is 50 not 30. Live and learn.

@Tjones3129 Heya! It's Cyanuric Acid, or "Stabilizer". Prevents your pool from losing free chlorine due to sunlight and stuff like that. You want a CYA reading of 30-50 parts per million generally.

Interesting development today. Yesterday during the day I lost 0 FC. Overnight loss was 1.5. So, I figured I’m probably pretty close to finishing the slam and would add the water as discussed above and re test everything. During the tests, CYA came back between 45-50, which means I’ve had...

Cloudy Again - Tests Results Included

So another question has come up. During my SLAM (into day 3 now) I've lost a bit of water, just due to evap and we went swimming once, so a bit got sloshed out. It's down about an inch and getting close to the top of my return jet. Not that it's a big deal, but will just cause a lot more...

Hahah @frogabog definitely wouldn't be surprised if they dragged all manner of dirt and dust in there.

Ah ok, didn't know if it was a threshold amount in the test or a specific ratio of powder to water. Thanks for clarifying. :)

@IceShadow oops I've been using 2 scoops of powder on the 10ml sample. Might have my readings all out of whack then right?

    Intex owners, trim your pool!

Interesting! I am currently SLAM'ing and had an OCLT that was way worse last night after doing a full vacuum that included pulling back the "flap" around the edge and vacuuming under it. It would totally make sense that algae could be hiding under there and I loosened/exposed it by manipulating...

Cloudy Again - Tests Results Included

SLAM is in progress. First night OCLT was 2.0 ( down to 10 from 12) . Did a full vaccuum from inside the pool yesterday so I could get in all the nooks and crannys. OCLT last night was 5.0 ( down to 7 from 12). Is that kind of increasing loss common? I assumed I must have knocked loose some...

Thanks @mknauss . Quick question about the target FC for SLAM in the app. I went to the FC page from the overview menu. Set the CYA in the top box to 30 and then slid the CYA slider over. It gives me a FC target of 12 and says "your target is outside the suggested range". Is that normal because...

Heya all, Last year I had this "haze" in the pool, especially after heavy use. I was using test strips and then an OTO kit, but was planning on getting a K2006 this year, which I did. The old thread is here for reference, as the pics show pretty much exactly what I'm experiencing again...

Tricks for draining the last 5-6 inches of water...

I have a 'submersible utility pump' that I got for about $70 CAD on sale. Works like a charm. They typically have some manner of standoff on the bottom so it won't suck itself to the bottom of the pool liner.

    Confusing Test Results

@setsailsoon Nope, just added some of my regular Walmart bleach to a few liters of water in the bottom of the pool, then used a soft scrub brush to go over the bottom and up the sides of the interior. Then I shop vac'd it out the best I could, then filled.

    Confusing Test Results

Ruh oh! I read about the sock, but then also read to just put it into the skimmer and let it dissolve in the filter. I don't backwash, my pump doesn't do that, so I usually just take the filter out and hose it out when needed every several days, then replace once a month or so. I'll just not...

    Confusing Test Results

Gotcha ok! I realize I misinterpreted "don't test CYA" with "don't do anything about CYA", so I didn't add any stabilizer. I have some and have added the recommended 129g into my skimmer. Test CYA in about 3 days then? In between now and my CYA test, I assume I just check levels as normal and...

    Confusing Test Results

@jblizzle I haven't tested CYA yet because it was a fresh fill the day before yesterday. Everyone's been saying not to test it so I don't waste my reagents. I added the chlorine mid-morning yesterday.

    Confusing Test Results

@setsailsoon Something is definitely eating my chlorine! It's back to 0 from the bleach addition I did yesterday. So weird. When I set up the pool (it was dried and stored in my shed), I used some water and bleach with a brush to scrub out the bottom and sides of the interior. I then shop vac'd...

Oh, for the bug report, it was still in litres but looked like the conversion of 4300 glass worth, so like 16K litres. So it didn’t change 4300 L to G in the display. It’s like it converted it as though I had entered 4300 G and then changed the units.

Thanks for the replies! Soooo turns out that the app (not the first time) reverted my 4300L to 4300 gallons. Ffs. I have to keep an eye on that. Definitely a bug. I haven’t tested CYA since it’s a new fill and I had two other folks say to just test everything else, which I did. Looks like...

    Up and Running!

The BBQ is cooler when running with the rad on top than when it's cooking dinner. I can put my hand directly on it after several hours running. Same/less risk as any BBQ in a backyard imho. The pump is one that I'm a bit on the fence about. With the isolation and GFCI I'm not too concerned, but...
