Logistic question, how far/long of a run of pipe should be between the pool pump and the filter

Well my plan is to put a jandy valve before or just after the pool filter so I can dump water from the pool when needed. Come to think of it, I will put the valve after the filter. Whenever I aim to clean it, shut off pump, take off cover, shift valve to the drain pipe. System should pretty...

Logistic question, how far/long of a run of pipe should be between the pool pump and the filter

This is more of a "what is the answer/fact" question. So I am going to replace my pool filter with a cartridge filter (TY for that recommendation also). I have space next to my pump (its perfect pool filter size space), but I don't believe there will be a very long run from my pool pump to...

Looking to replace a Hayward Microclear Stainless Steel II 72 DE filter with a Pentair Quad DE filter. Size question.

hmm. Never considered a straight cartridge filter. I'll look into them. So looking at the Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge Filter 420 ft2 or the Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge Filter 320 ft2 Considering the literal max flow of my pool is .. 30 gallons, and that's going to rocket down. Would...

Looking to replace a Hayward Microclear Stainless Steel II 72 DE filter with a Pentair Quad DE filter. Size question.

so my Hayward is looking to go the way of the do-do (been there probably since the pool was installed in 75). Trying to figure out which size works. The Quad D.E. 60 or the Quad D.E. 80. Pools 30k gallons, with a variable speed on 24/7. Average flow off the meter's looks to be 30 gallons a...

Can't seem to get the pool to 3ppm chlorine

It seems that its three fold. Ones the algae, 2nd is the cya (its just flat out too low), third, 2 weeks of straight blinding sun (burned off whatever was generated). Getting the CYA up now and I suspect once that's back up, the chlorine will balance itself out. I'll be working on the algae...

Can't seem to get the pool to 3ppm chlorine

I have my theories but lemme ask here to see if I am missing something. Have a 30,000 pool (125 feet around, my guestimates its 30k with a 10 foot deepend). Have a circupool rj60 that I installed last year. All the chemical balances are correct except the chlorine content. I am trying to get...

Do I need skimmer diverter valves if main drain is plumped separately?

From what I see, no. They seem to be connected via somepipe underneath the pool. There are no mysterious holes that I can see. Thank you.

Do I need skimmer diverter valves if main drain is plumped separately?

1 valve for both skimmer, 1 valve for the floor drain, 1 valve for the spa. The floor drain is not plumbed to the skimmer.

Running pool equipment year round in winter / keeping small in ground pool open all year in Ohio

Your natural gas bill is going to be enormous. I have a 30k pool, and to heat it daily costs roughly 20 dollars. Assuming you do the same, your natural gas bill would come to maybe 5 bucks daily, or 150 dollars a month during the winter running it 24/7. Assuming no breakdowns.... And...

Do I need skimmer diverter valves if main drain is plumped separately?

I have three returns coming from the pool, the skimmers are 1, the main drain is number 2, and the drain for the spa is the third. The spa and main drain has their own valve. The main drain and the skimmer valve are always open. Do I need skimmer diverters (UFO's?) Thanks.

    Is CircuPool really the best?

Have a curcupool rj60. Have a large pool and it’s been a rockstar. Had to set it st 75 to keep up with the chlorine demand (I have a hungry pool). Works well. You can buy pipes and build your own vertical kit. It’ll be about 3 feet tall.

Planning on Changing Pool Filter, the Pentair Quad DE filter (question on valve selection).

Just what I am looking for. I have to replace the old pull valve diverter I have with the original filter regardless so i will be plumbing one in to it regardless. Thank you again.

Planning on Changing Pool Filter, the Pentair Quad DE filter (question on valve selection).

So i know the Pentair Quad DE needs a specific type of valve, but does one exist (that works), which allows me to drain some pool water without having to backwash the DE filter itself (from what I have read, some people complain about the Pentair Quad DE filter and that the grids blow out if you...

How long does it take you to clean your pool?

I didn't consider if it was dead algae or not. Converted the system to a SWG recently but its also been unusually windy lately so it might literally be pollen. And if you brush a pool with dirt it also swishes away. And I run my pressure side cleaner daily for about 2 hours. Guess I'm doing...

How long does it take you to clean your pool?

For the first time in 2 years I am having issues keeping the bottom of my pool clean. I've done quite a bit to keep it clean beforehand, have a polaris with a sand/silt bag, a poolskim, nx2 for cleaning the top, cleaned out the de filter in total, etc. Now it seems I have a endless battle...

Sac anode, zinc in pool ok?

Is there a bonding lug near the pool equipment, not that I can find. It’s bonded (it wouldn’t have passed code otherwise).

Sac anode, zinc in pool ok?

I think you might have panic'd a bit. I am looking to protect the pump, heater, swg, filter. Basically everything that is in my pool pad. There's no steps, bars, etc in the pool. I'll pick the brain of my local pool person (She is a pool builder and should be familiar with this, if she isn't...

Sac anode, zinc in pool ok?

Now that I have the swg working I am looking to bond my pump, heater, filter and swg. I am probably buying some marine anodes (because why pay 80 dollars for something that’s 3 bucks), but I have a question. obviously as the zinc degrades it gets put into the water, is this safe/ok. Do I have...

31k pool, 12 bags in, estimated 20 bags, when to start up swg?

It’s following up. Started up the swg with the 15 bags. Reading was at 2200 (manual says 3500 to 4000). It was generating chlorine (I could see the bubbles), so I let it run for a day. a day later, reading is 3600. saved 5 bags, initial read was way off. threw out the test strips and...

31k pool, 12 bags in, estimated 20 bags, when to start up swg?

ciecupool table says for 30k pool at 500 ppm, add 750 lbs. I will dump the other bags and run a test this weekend to see where I am at. I am either on point or 2 bags short, which should be fine I think.

31k pool, 12 bags in, estimated 20 bags, when to start up swg?

Dumped 12 bags of 40lb salt into the pool. It’s currently dissolving. I have a 31k pool. My estimates is that the pool should take 20 bags total (800 lbs). the pool salt content before was less than 400ppm of salt (plaster was redone and pool refilled earlier this year). I am debating on...

Building a vertical kit for swg, weight concern.

Just tested the system. No leaks. Flow meter shows I am at 30 gpm at 1250 rpm. That should be enough to activate the flow switch on the swg. Thank you for the advice on the curved drain piping. In the end it wound up being much better.

Line, load, SWG, Variable speed pump that never turns off, how would you set it up?

Redid the electrical so that the pumps on the line (it doesn’t turn off), the swg is on timer 1, and booster is on timer two. Since the pump has an anti freeze setting built in, moved the anti freeze timer over to the booster to protect it. I can use the on/off switch I have in the pool hut to...

Line, load, SWG, Variable speed pump that never turns off, how would you set it up?

Reading the manual, apparently the rj series does (the documentation on the internal timer is lousy, also don’t know if it has a battery to keep the time if the power goes out). It’s default set to run off external timers. I think for simplicity sake, I’ll run it off the intermatic timers...

Line, load, SWG, Variable speed pump that never turns off, how would you set it up?

I think I will do just that. I’ll have to try the swg to see how it’s clock works

Line, load, SWG, Variable speed pump that never turns off, how would you set it up?

I am about to wire this circupool rj60 but ran into a Slight Snafu. Have a intermatic dual timer box, there all 230/240. Timer 1 is wired to the Variable Speed pump. The Timer never turns off (its wired correctly, the lugs that turns it on and off have been removed). The pump never shuts...
