ok. So I think I am good now 8:15 pm = 18.5 ppm 7:15 am = 18 ppm So now do I just wait for it to get below 10 and then do the PH tests? Other tests? And adjust?

Finally cleared up. Brought it to shock level one last time. For tomorrow night overnight loss test, do I leave it alone and just test at dusk and don’t bring it up to shock level at night? So if it is at 17 ppm at night leave it alone and test in morning?

Nothing much to update. I keep filtering, cleaning carriages, skimming, vacuuming and adding chlorine up to slam level. Still not crystal clear but it will get there I’m sure. The loss of chlorine is much less. I didn’t have time this morning to check the levels and when I checked tonight...

Thanks. That was always confusing in the reading materials indicating not to let it drop below slam level. Figured why not bring it to 23 and it goes down to 20 and then bring up to 23 again. Makes sense to just keep raising it back up to 20 to save chlorine and liner wear and tear.

Still plugging away, keeping it above slam level. Adding extra with sun to keep it high enough. It is clear but not “crystal” yet. Current pic:

8pm check. Big drop given this was probably at 24 level this morning but tons of sun and still killing algae im sure FC 19 I decided to bring it up to 28 because it will be very sunny tomorrow and I will not have time for a morning check. Filter is running great. I’ll post when it is...

Still a little cloudy. Can really see the bottom now. FC was at 20 so I put a little more in to offset loss from any sun today. I put in to make it 22 and realized I put the wrong % bleach into PoolMath so it’s going to jump to 24 now but it’s all good. Hoping tomorrow will be better

I kind of lost track. It was black when I started. I think I’m on day 13 today but I had so much cya I’m not sure I was slamming that whole time Still a little cloudy today. Test just now was 21ppm so I will keep it up until clear. I Have to vacuum tomorrow cause I saw some dirt popping up.

Ok. Pool drained 1/2. It was 40 inches, brought it to 20 and refilled it. Will have the filter circulate over night. Test results in the morning. I have a strong suspicion my cya will drop by 1/2. Lol

Thank you. Yes. Plan to just do that tomorrow. I’m so glad I found this forum. I didn’t want to mess up all I did already so figured I would bring it back up to the slam level overnight 39ppm and we are going to drain and fill tomorrow. It’s such a small pool it was only 5 cups of my bleach...

Thanks. Just realized that it was trichlor in that shock. New CYA in sun was as follows Diluted 50/50: was 45x2 for 90 Full pool water: was just at 100 perhaps a smidgen under after multiple times pouring it back in and re testing so we’ll call it 100 Today’s water looks great and I can...

Ah, yes. I read that somewhere. Will do. Should I test the tap water first (well water) May be stupid question but I don’t know if cya exists naturally in well water. Just want to be fully accurate

1st test results : under shock

Just read that test for cya needs to be with done back to full sun so I’m going to retest tomorrow. Folks said it’s hard to get right. FC is 35 and pool was black last week with no added chlorine in 7 days and kept getting better so I’m hoping I did test wrong and it’s a lower cya. I used...

Thanks. Trying to convince my wife to drain. We have well so it’s just electric cost and wear on well pump... or I can get the water delivered for $275. May just do that. Takes longer to drain than fill by delivering it. It’s small so not a big deal in my view. And still early. Spent $30...
