Slope of rectangular pool?

A pool with more length would/could mean a more gradual slope. When you start to shorten the length on the in ground pool, the slope starts to eat up the shallow end and take a nose dive towards the deeper end, especially if it's a non diving pool. This is my opinion and I'm sure if anyone else has a differing one, they will be along to add it. I'm sure you will get an even more precise answer from your perspective pool builder.

I agree with casey. In a diving pool, the PB tries to provide a deep end that's large enough to dive in and then slope up to the shallow. But that's tough to do in less than 40 feet. In your non diving pool they apparently have a continuous slope. It looks ok to me.

One thing you can do is have little slope from the shallow end and then have a steep slope beyond where most folks would stand. That's how my pool provides a non conforming diving area (depth ok inadequate side clearance).

I can chime in with my pool -- we have a 32 x 19 rectangle. We originally designed a pool from 3.5 - 6 feet. Right now, without plaster, our pool depth is 3.5+ - 7 feet. The slope feels pretty steep, especially for children. My husband and I walked into the pool and eyeballed our shoulders with the waterline tile (where the water level will be). Only adults will be able to stand at the halfway mark.

Of course, I'm not sure how much plaster will affect these numbers. But, I think you are smart to consider how the slope will affect your use of the pool. Talk it over with your PB so you are comfortable with the depth and have a design that is best for you.
