ok installed rj-45 and new VS pump. Opened pool and started SLAM with liquid chlorine. Cya was 60, so chlorine has been 22-24 for past three days. Pool looking great, no more chunks or visible algae, water just needs some more time to fully clear up. Now, over past 2 days I added required amount of salt, I’m at 3400, everything else was where the unit states I should be, except temperature still around 63. Is there anything beside the pH that won’t come back accurate from the high chlorine levels? Will the unit make chlorine with levels hovering around 20? Should I wait for chlorine to fall closer to normal levels before I fire up the swcg?

No, you might get color variation on other tests, but will be generally accurate.

Sure.

Yes. Wait. No need to make it when you already have it.

Make sure you continue to slam until the pool is this clear. Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

A SWCG does not monitor chlorine level. Its sole purpose is to make chlorine so long as there is flow going through the unit. You should turn OFF a SWCG if doing a SLAM. Only use LC to chlorinate. Let the FC decline before turning on SWCG because a SWCG will just produce chlorine and add to the existing FC.

As noted above, don't stop short. Complete the SLAM Process by passing all 3 SLAM criteria. It would be a shame to waste all your progress thusfar by stopping early. Hang in there and maintain! Also be sure to inspect, brush, and repeat. :)

Roger that. Just excited to get started with the swcg. After my debacle last year with the bacteria and the nearly 40 gallons LC to rid it and it’s waste, I’m happy watching my pool clear up the east way.

OCLT only 5 parts last night, still slightly cloudy. SLAM continue

Full 5 ppm. Last two days was only 1ppm overnight, but still slightly cloudy. Hoping to have a clear pool by the weekend. Filters are clearing quickly now when I swap them iut
Sounds like you are getting very close. :goodjob:

Double check and scrub everywhere algae can hide. Skimmers, the weir door, behind the foam in the door. Ladders, steps, lights, eyeballs, covers. Anywhere water goes or can go. Full 5ppm last night after a couple of 1 ppm nights is suspicious.

It was worded poorly. I had 5ppm loss, then 2 nights of 1. I’m now completely done, water is crystal clear, I’m just waiting to chlorine levels to drop enough so I can jump in!

I think it’s always wise to hold SLAM an extra day or two, for insurance. You can swim during SLAM provided you can see the bottom of pool, which you can. There’s nothing stopping you - but I’d be extra cautious on FC levels over next week or so. Run high - target the top end of range, especially as you learn how your SWCG will operate.
