The plastic air relief valve (item 1 in the photo below) on my sand fileter broke yesterday. It broke even with the gasket so the threaded post is still in there. I've ordered new parts but they won't be here until next Thursday. Is it realistic to try to use plastic epoxy to weld the two pieces back together as a temporary fix?

Hi, welcome to TFP! I would not try to epoxy it together unless you can take out the threaded piece from the filter body. If you try to epoxy it in place you may not be able to remove it when the new part comes in. I would set the filter to recirculate to keep the water circulating through the skimmer and the chemicals mixed until the part comes in.

Thanks! Didn't know I could run it at all without the valve in place. I really did not want it to sit there not circulating for a week, growing algae. Not too concerned about it getting stuck in there. I have a leak where the dome lid attaches to the filter body so I just went ahead and ordered a new dome lid, air valve and both gaskets. I tried to replace the leaking gasket earlier but couldn't get the dome lid off without the filter wrench (ordered that too!). Hopefully I can have both issues fixed next week!!
