My Pentair Intellichlor IC40 is pretty old. It's bulging and has some minor cracks and seems completely dead (no lights) I changed the fuse 10 amp, power came back for two seconds and smoke came out of unit. I'm guessing it is completely dead? If so should I be good to just swap it with a new IC40 and keep old power center?

The cell is definitely dead.

Smoke came out of which unit?

Yup. The technical term for that is … kaput! Or, as Dr McCoy would say -

Kula,

Your power center has a circuit card that converts the AC from the transformer into the DC voltage the cell needs to work.

There should be 4 wires leaving the card going to the cell. You want to test between the large Red wire and the large Black wire.

More than likely, your power center is ok, but it would make sense to test the Power Center's output just to make sure.

Thanks,

Jim R.
