IntelliTouch mother board

We had a power failure and my 15 year old inintellitouch i7 mother (520075) and personality (520165) are fried per my local technician. My options are to replace the two boards with new versions (520266 and 530287) or upgrading to the intellicenter. Looking for options. Thanks

unplug everything from the comm port and see if it still trips...
- if it doesn't, plug in the indoor controller and see if it trips then

is your spa remote an is4 or an is10? (does it plug into the comm port or the 6-position connector?)

Thank you @ogdento. When I went to disconnect controllers the system powered up like normal. Very strange! However, now the intelliflow pump is not working. All other pumps (fountain, slide and waterfall) are working fine. Previously the intelliflow screen was blank and inoperable but still worked appropriately. So my issue now is how do I get my intelliflow pump working?

Hey you're welcome! The intelliflo pump is special in that it should be always powered on and must be connected to the comm port... the outdoor board controls it's operation (the pump's display will show "Display not active" when it can talk to the outdoor board). So it won't work if you've unplugged everything from comm port.

If the system is working with everything taken off the comm port... the idea is to add the devices back one at a time, starting with the pump, and you'll figure out which one is bad. The is10 spa controller - and you never told me which one you had! - is notorious for shorting out the comm port and causing the low voltage breakers to pop, so if you leave that off your system may run normally again.

If you have a salt cell, you may have a "surge board" that's mounted to the back of the cabinet (behind the intellitouch panel)... and that provides extra comm port connections, so your pump and other devices may be connected there or at one of the two comm port connectors on the i7 personality board. Might be easier to send us a picture?

Pk,

The IntelliFlo screen should NEVER be blank. When controlled by the automation, it should say "Display not active" when not controlled by the automation it should show RPM or similar display.

As a test, go into the Service mode and see if the display is blank or shows RPM..

For the IntelliFlo to run by the automation, several things must happen..

The pump must know when and what speed to run. This is controlled by schedules and having speeds assigned to Circuits (usually Pool and Spa circuits, but it can be any circuit.)

A circuit with a speed assigned, must be on or active.

The RS-485 com port must be working.

As a test, can you turn anything on using your remote, like a pool light. If so the Com port is working.

The next thing to check is that you are in Auto and Pool or Spa mode.

Then ensure that the Pool and Spa circuits have speeds assigned.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Appreciate the responses @ogdento@Jimrahbe. To clarify, the circuit boards are now working and the breaker is no longer tripping. The issue is now with the intelliflow pump. the intelliflow lcd screen and keypad has been broken for some time but always turned on per schedule and would also respond to either the indoor or spa remote. Now, nothing. Nothing happens when I turn on in the intellitouch panel in either service or run modes. Pool lights and other pumps are working properly. So basically the intelliflow is not working and I can’t do anything on the keypad/lcd screen. Is it possible to reprogram or operate via the settings in the intellitouch indoor control panel (520138)?

Pk,

Did you do what I asked in my post #7?

Please make sure that the automation still has the pump speeds in memory. Don't tell me they were there, I need to know if they are there now.

On the EasyTouch, it is Menu, Settings, IntelliFlo, pump #1, Speeds. Not sure what it is on the IntelliTouch, but it should be similar.

Let me know if the speeds are there or not.

Thanks,

Jim R.

@Jimrahbe
Apologies for having difficulty following. The intelliflo pump screen is blank so only way I can check pump speeds is from the indoor control panel (520138). This is what I am finding.

pk,

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.

Good to know that you have pump speeds for the Pool and Spa circuits..

When you look at your remote, on the main page, does it show AUTO and Pool? If so, then the pump 'should' be running at 2500 RPM.

If the pump is not running then either the pump is bad or the cable is bad. I'd want to check both ends of the cable. At the pump end, make sure there is no corrosion on either the pump side or the cable side. At the automation end, you need to make sure you have a solid connection for the Green and Yellow wires. Is the pump connected to the main board com port or the Surge card if you have a SWCG? A pic would be great.

Let's see if Tom has any other suggestions.. Calling @ogdento

Thanks,

Jim R.
