2023 Bleach Prices

Home Depot is well-stocked again (was out a few weeks ago), but the price for Pool Essentials 10% is $8.98. That hurts.

Walmart's website has it listed at $5.47 and in stock, but they never actually have any. That hurts too.

Have you tried to purchase online from Walmart? If you add 7 gallons to your shopping cart, shipping is free. I typically hand pick the freshest bleach at Lowes (or HD). If you get it shipped, you're stuck with what they send.

Well since I've gone in person and seen nothing but empty shelves, it would constitute magical thinking to expect the online order to be filled. Walmart is not bashful about canceling order items and even complete orders (been there, done that).

I just went to the closest Walmart. They had a shelf full at $5.47. The stamped day was 354, so I bought 6 gallons.

This was a good suggestion. I just ordered 10 gallons for $60 after tax. Ships right to my house.
I am curious if they are really shipping it or if they’re actually going to have someone deliver it from a store. I have had several things from Walmart delivered from the store recently that were marked as shipping. Ironically, I don’t live in an area where I can actually choose delivery from the store so the 1st couple times this happened I was very surprised. Now my clue is if they say I will get it today or tomorrow because FredEx ain’t that fast 🤣

I haven't had to pick up chlorine lately, I think the last time I got some was mid-November at Pinch a Penny. If their prices are creeping up toward this, I'll just throw in the towel, eat the cost of a VSP and replumbing it, and go SWCG. $9 for a gallon of bleach is some looney tunes nonsense. Then again, there's also reality speaking and the fact that I have to put a significant amount of money into other house stuff this year :)

Guess I'll be suffering through not only annoying, but expensive jug lugging!

Is it time for a thread comparing the cost of using tabs to liquid bleach? Sacrilege I know! But it would cost me 20 bucks a week to chlorinate my pool at current pricing. Was gonna tear mine down in anticipation of buying a new AGP.....................but............this is just nuts.

Is this supply chain issues or did something blow up some where. Can't be just plain Jane inflation. I was paying 2.99 per 10%gallon last year. These prices are a "tad" bit higher than what the "gov't" states inflation rate is at.

Sad and frustrating indeed. :brickwall: MA and stabilizer have shot upwards at alarming rates as well. Something tells me that even if the economy got back on track tomorrow makers of all these products will probably leave the costs at the new elevated level. It's utterly amazing to see what has happened.

Yep, anything associated with pools has shot up dramatically. I would be surprised if prices go back down much, if at all. ☹️

Stopped by Home Depot for some odds and ends I needed around the house. Wandered over to the pool section to find the 4 gal for $40 chlorine. Insane.

I haven't had to get refills at Pinch a Penny in a while, but I'm down to my last 2 gallons so I can't wait to see what those cost now.

There has got to be a transportation cost factor to this. I have been researching for any new regulations on transportation of these types of products. Nothing yet.

Fuel costs are still pretty high. Even though they have come down some, diesel is still well over $5 a gallon here.

Maybe cross-researching into campaign contributors...

Richard Wolff said the inflation hikes were just plain greed. His show gets repeated all week, same episode - every time, no exceptions. Well, only one exception, that particular episode aired once.
