Surfaces bubbles

I have a waterfall and fountains. When bubbles are formed from both they seem to stay on the surface and float across the pool a lot longer than they should or use to.

Chl. 5
Alk. 80
Calcium - 210
CYA 55
Salt - 3900

Any ideas?

One reason may be their is some type of fine oil on the surface and allowing the bubbles to travel across the water on top with out popping. Removing such surface tension may end the problem.

Leave it alone and enjoy the bubbles.

If it really bothers you, add 50 ppm of borates, which will lower the surface tension in the water. Many do this to reduce surface tension and have bugs drop to bottom of the pool.

Will it be enough to solve your problem? Don't know, but it is a low risk solution.

What kind of test kit are you using? The CYA doesn’t sound like a Taylor number.

You might try the CYA test again and fill just to each line and report the CYA ppm in increments of 10. But I don’t see anything else in those results that are out of the ordinary.
