ISO new pump/filter

Hi! Happy Thanksgiving!
Our pump just died! It's very overwhelming trying to find one one your own and I am in need of some help please. The pump we currently have is a Hydromax 120. Our pool is a round above ground 24 foot pool. This is our first above ground pool. We have always had in ground salt water pools so this is new territory. Your help with recommendations is appreciated. Thanks!

OH NO! What bad timing! We got ya!

For now use a straw broom or boat paddle to make a whirlpool in your pool to mix the chlorine in while your pump is down.

Do you NEED a new filter? Or just a pump? If you just need a pump here is a good one: Doheny's Above Ground 2-Speed Pool Pump, 115V, 1.5 HP

Note it is a two speed one. You do NOT want a single speed pump if at all possible as the power savings from running it on the low speed is significant. I run our pump on slow 98% of the time!

Let me know your thoughts and we will go from there

Thank you so much for your quick reply! Yes, we are in search of a new filter and a new pump :)

We don't know a lot about two speed pumps. You mentioned 98% of the time. When would you use it on high? Also, what is the filter system that would partner with the above pump mentioned? Thanks again!

The only times I use the high speed was when I had a suction powered cleaner. I have a robot now and love it! I also used the high speed for "play time". LOL I turn the return so it pushed the water in a tight circle so we have a lazy river ride!

Any filter can work with just about any pump. I love my sand filter for the backwashing ability that is much easier to clean BUT if you get a BIG filter of any kind you will almost never have to clean it.

What kind of filter do you ahve now?

We currently have a Model 70151 Complete 1-1/2 HP Cartridge Type Filter System

There are a lot of filter systems out there and it's overwhelming. Can you give me options? lol

Here is another one. This is the one I have on my pool and it has served me well.

Here is the sand filter I have: https://www.amazon.com/Hayward-W3S1...s-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A3N0LFM77402&th=1

Now I think you could use your old filter if you wanted to. You would need to do some PVC to connect it with the new pump.

I hope this helps.
