Hello,

I have an old Jandy PLC 1400 that is almost end of life and I am trying to just see how long j can extend it's life especially being the winter season.

Lately the cell started to throw error and I noticed the power cord seems to have some issue and I noticed corrosion at the middle terminal (see picture) I have ordered a new power cord and also new terminal adapter.

Question is if the terminal adapter can be replaced by removing the 2 screws or is it not that straight forward? I thought all I had to do was slide them out and put the new one in. The actual metal pins into the cell seem to be attached to the plate so obviously not coming out easily. Is it because of the pins have just fused with the calcification or are they supposed to be attached to the plate?

I can try to free the pins from plate but wasn't sure if that's the right approach. Also has anyone done this or is it just a wasted effort? The fact that there is a kit sold like this made me think it's a replacement part but I haven't seen any YouTube video or post about people doing it.

Ah ok so the screws removed should free up the base holding prong but looks like due to corrosion it's not coming out! I guess best bet is to try with the new cable and see if the cell goes further.

Always replace the cable when you replace the cell.

Yeah not replacing the cell yet! Got the new cable and replaced it and looks like cell is back up and running. Let's see how long this goes.

Any black Friday sales on Jandy PLC 1400?? 😁

Can you show the label?

I think I'm my other thread you mentioned that it's much older cell, it still running so haven't found the need to replace although it is not outputting at the same level.

I have a pool warranty so hoping they will replace when it does die 😁

It's been working so far except like I said the power cord went bad and was throwing errors. I thought the cell is finally dead but wanted to see if it's just power cord or cell. I replaced the cord today and the cell as per system is working. I will know better after I can measure the chlorine level of the pool after 24 hours ..
