Weather forecast is showing no rain for next 10 days. What are the effects of evaporation on pool chemicals if no rain and no fill water is added. I believe, for example, that the salt ppm would be higher. But what about all the rest i.e, chlorine, ph, alkalinity, cya and calcium hardness?

Unless you allow a foot or more of water to evaporate, the measurable effects are indistinguishable.

Your salinity would increase. The CYA level would increase. TA would increase. The CH would increase. All relative to the % of water lost. The pH and FC is variable so would change based on many other factors.

If you remove 10% of water due to evaporation, divide by 90% to get the new salt level.

For example.

3,000/0.90 = 3,333

If you remove 1%, the new level is 3,000/0.99 = 3,030 ppm etc.

You can use PoolMath to do the calculation.
