beautiful pool turned dark green

Well, the thin tube is full and I can still see the black dot. So it is below 30. I did replace 2/3 of the pool water. Yes, I have a water softener.
We have had sand storms recently. The backwash came out very brownish yesterday.
Ok, replacing 2/3 of the water would explain the low CYA. You might find it helpful to refill with softened water so your CH doesn’t get so high. Doesn’t help now but may help to lower it in the future with refilling from splash out and backwash.

My pool is now crystal clear. I am close to completing SLAM. It has taken me a week of pre-SLAM work and 2 weeks of SLAM.

Here are my numbers tonight:
FC = 9.5
CC = 1
pH = 8.2
TA = 70
CH = 900
CYA = 0

My pool became clear 3days ago and it also passed OCLT, but I still had CC = 1. Then I realized that I had not been circulating water through the water feature. Now that looks clear too, though I still measure CC=1. Given this and my other measurements, any recommendations for the next steps?

Here is my SLAM history:
220907 1:50AM FC=18, add none.
220907 7:20AM FC=14, add none. -> Lost 4 ppm in 5.5 hrs overnight.
220907 12:10PM FC=12, add 1 gallon LC. -> Lost 2 ppm in 5 hrs of day time.
220907 19:30PM FC=13.5, add none.
220908 01:30AM FC=8.5, add 3 gallons. -> Lost 5 ppm in 6 hrs of night time.
220908 7:00AM FC=17, add none.
220908 3:00PM FC=13.5, add none. -> Lost 3.5 ppm in 8 hrs of day time.
220908 6:30PM FC=12.5, add none. -> Lost 1 ppm in 3.5 hrs of day time.
220908 11:30PM FC=10.5, add 1 gallon. -> Lost 2 ppm in 5 hrs of night time.
220909 7:00PM FC=7, add 2 gallons.
220910 12:30PM FC=9, add 2 gallons.
220911 8:30AM FC=10.5, add 2 gallon.
220912 6:30AM FC=8, add 1 gallon.
220912 8:30PM FC=5, add 4 gallon.
220913 8:30PM FC=8, add 4 gallon.
220914 10:30PM FC=16.5, add none.
220915 6:30AM FC=13, add 1 gallon.
220915 8:00PM FC=8.5, add 3 gallons.
220916 9:00PM FC=8, add 3 gallons.
220917 9:00PM FC=12, add 0 gallons.
220918 9:00AM FC=12, add 1 gallons.
220918 9:00PM FC=8.5, add 2 gallons.
220919 9:00PM FC=6.5, add 3 gallons.
220920 9:00PM FC=10, add 2 gallons.
220921 9:00PM FC=9.5 add 1 gallons.

Not sure how you even got this far. You show "0" for CYA so how is it that the Arizona sun didn't take FC to 0 and also slam needs more then one addition of chlorine per day but looking at your logs most dates have only one addition.

Hi Wireform, good questions. About a week ago, I hang a tarp over the pool which partially protects the pool from the sun. Some of my measurements were done once a day but I added chlorine multiple times. So if it says 3 gallons, that is usually one gallon each at night, next morning and afternoon.

Before I started SLAM, my CYA was 90. I did a water exchange and reduced it to 30. My target for FC was 12 based on that. But during the process, CYA went down for some reason. I tried adding stabilizer but was told it would take sometime to show up in my tests.
I am thinking that I should start introducing the remaining 3 lbs of stabilizer I have now.

Be careful with that. It might not be zero, just below the 30ppm threshold. If the FC is holding during the day, there’s some CYA in there.
