Tampa Pool Build (Almost Completed) - Pebblesheen Completed and Water Filled

Late posting but better late than never. Knowing the PB may go belly up any time now as she also owes all the subs money from other jobs. We somehow we got our plumbing equipment and deckjets set last week and a made a bit of progress.

Still missing Electrical, some misc. plumbing(autofill) and Interior finish. We were told 2-4 weeks on Electrical but aren't holding our breath.

Have you gotten lien releases from those subs? They can put a lien on your house if they haven't been paid. I would not give the PB anymore money without releases from the subs.
No we keep getting the run around about they will give it at the end. So far it been over 3 months since most of the subs were on site. The guy that did the equipment set was a close friend of the PB so we will see. We dont plan on giving any more money until we are caught up with all remaining task.

Alright another task somehow completed by the PB. The PB started paying some of her subs and now they are either requesting money upfront or working one job at a time until they get paid for that job. After waiting 70 days from the equipment set. We had a surprise, the Electrician came out to install most of the electrical. We are still missing the intelliconnect, some misc. plumbing(autofill) and Interior finish.

I guess now we wait another 2.5 months before the next step. I'm now hoping to swim by next summer at this rate.

Well good news today. The pebble crew came out to shoot the PebbleSheen Blue Granite. Waiting until Monday for them to acid wash then we can start filling. I guess our swimming timeline go moved up a bit. It only took 18 months to get water.

Still missing our intelliconnect and misc items.

some helpful hints for day of filling

  • Do they have all the proper return nozzles and drain covers (type and color) to place after plaster installed
  • Have you tested your fill water? Are you filling with softened water or regular tap water?
  • Have your hose ready (and clean) as it will be laying in the pool.
  • Tie a sock or cloth around the nozzle so it does not sit on the plaster. Also, consider tying a plastic jug to the nozzle such that it will float up as the water rises.
  • Make sure the hose is put at the lowest part of the pool.
  • Do NOT stop the flow of water once it starts as it stopping it could cause a ring on the plaster.
  • Ensure you take note (or a picture) of your water meter reading before you start to fill
  • Be prepared to take note of your water meter as the pool reaches certain levels, i.e bottom of bottom step, top of bottom step, etc. (it helps in the future to know volume of your pool at certain levels - should you ever have to drain portion of it)
  • Plan to set an alarm every 4 hours (or so) to ensure hose is still in pool, no debris blew into pool, etc.
  • Take a picture of any chemicals they bring on site that they plan to dump in when they start to add water to pool
  • Continue to fill pool to center of water tile or center of skimmer. Take picture of water meter at end of fill
  • Get clear instructions from PB as what to do the day the pool is full - how often to brush, will the pump be turned on, etc.
Define with PB when he will be back out to set up water chemistry

@HermanTX that ^^^^ post just made it to my saved files! VERY well done. The only thing I am going add is to say "Do NOT stop the flow of water once the pool starts filling as doing so could cause a ring on the new plaster." OH and 'Put the end of the hose at the lowest part of the pool to avoid channeling in the new plaster."

@irvingtho SWEET!!! OH YEAH!!!

Irvingtho is on well water. Have you had it tested for iron? Ask your PB if he plans to put sequestrant in. If not, you should probably do it. Have you bought something to measure the water as it goes into the pool so you know the total gallons when it's done? The pool is looking good!

I'm taking it to get tested today for iron. Also plan on adding sequestrant once it finishes filling. In gonna figure out the gallons with a meter but I will have multiple hoses.
Can I add the sequestrant before it's fully filled?

Great additions. I will add to my list.
I actually removed a couple of items because the plaster was already done. This is the other points to do prior to plaster
  • Clean up around the pool area the day before - brush any dirt/mud or debris that could be tracked into the pool during or after plaster
  • Verify that the bags of plaster are the proper type and color you selected on morning of plaster.
  • Take a sample of the mixture when they are applying it to the pool by pouring some in a small clear plastic cup (good for reference later)
  • Do they have all the proper return nozzles and drain covers (type and color) to place after plaster installed

Got it tested and came back with low Iron in the well water. I did end up picking up a bottle of sequestrant just in case the PB is MIA.

Wanted to ask if anyone knows what the ideal turn over rate should be for a new pebble pool? I have it current running at 2200RPM with about 70 GPM.

There is none. Turnover is a myth. With new plaster you will need to run the pump 24/7, but not at high rpm, to clear the plaster dust. Once that is done, you run the pump for a reason. In your case, first will be to create the chlorine your pool needs each day using the SWCG. The RPM will be what the SWCG needs to close the flow switch. Next is skimming. If the RPM and time for the SWCG meets your skimming needs, all is good.

Thanks. So I could run the pump at a lower RPM then what I have now since I can't use the SWG for 28 days.

Its been a bit quiet due to the holidays. My PB was Arrested and Released on Bond mid-December. Lets see what the State of Florida can come up with on the remaining compaints?
