Hi All,

I have a Pentair ic40 connected to my Intellicenter, no outside power box. It is wired directly to a small board, which has a green light. From the board, it is wired to the 12 amp mini breaker, and then down to the transformer. Transformer is connected to the Pump Breaker.
See attached pictures.
It is not turning on and not producing chlorine. I don't know what is wrong and how to test what needs replacement.
I heard there might be a "fuse" somewhere, but I can't see one anywhere on the panel.
Any ideas what might be wrong? It is only 1 year old.WhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.31.02 AM.jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.08 AM.jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.08 AM.jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.14 AM.jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.14 AM (1).jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.14 AM (2).jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.14 AM (3).jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.14 AM (4).jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-26 at 11.14.15 AM.jpeg

419,

The cell will only have lights if...

The system is in the Auto mode (Not Service mode)
The Pool or Spa Circuit must be on.
The Pump is running.

Show me or tell me about the two wires going to the Pump/Filter relay. Show me where they are connected.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim.
Yes, even when I put it in boost mode, no lights come on.

Which 2 wires do you want to look at? I can take a closer pic. Can you circle it?

419,

You only have one relay that has any wires going to it. The relay on the top left with the black and blue wires. I need to know where those two wires go.

Show me pic of where the SWCG transformer wires (Yellow, White, Violet/Blue, and Black) go.

Thanks,

Jim R.

From the relay, the black wire goes directly to the light transformer box mounted beside the main panel.
The blue wire goes to a wire nut with 2 other black wires: 1 of them goes directly to the breaker for the lights, the other goes to a second wire nut.
The second wire nut has the yellow and black wires from the SWCG transformer in it.
The blue and white wires from the transformer go into a wire nut with another white wire (i believe the neutral) which is wired to the same light breaker.

I hope that all makes sense.
I am 100% sure the SWCG is not powered only when the lights come on, but I don't know why they used the light breaker for its power.

See attached pics.

419,

Wow!!

Please tell me who wired your system?

Unfortunately, it is not even close to being wired correctly.

If you are trying to do a DIY install, we need to see what we can do to get it cleaned up.

If a pool guy or electrician, did it, please never let them touch it again, as they have no clue what they are doing..

Some of the stuff that I see wrong.

1. The relay in the upper left of the IntelliCenter is supposed to be the Pump/Filter relay NOT the light relay.

2. The SWCG Transformer is supposed to be wired to the Load side of the Pump/Filter relay and it is not. This prevents the cell from exploding if the cell gets power with the pump not running. Your SWCG transformer is powered all the time.

3. The Light needs to get power from the load side of an AUX relay, not the Pump/Filter relay. The light is currently wired to the Line side of the Pump/Filter relay.

4. The SWCG transformer does not need a GFCI breaker.

5. The Pump/Filter Relay should have AC power on the Line side of the pump relay which it does not.

6. ???

Does the light work? Does it pop the GFCI breaker when you turn the light on?

Each relay has two small wires that come out of the top of the relay and go up to a small 2-pin connector. This connector gets plugged into the main board. What connector is top left relay currently plugged into?

I am 100% sure the SWCG is not powered only when the lights come on, but I don't know why they used the light breaker for its power.

Just so I can understand.. Does your IC40 have lights when you power the IntelliCenter on, without turning on the pool lights???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim,
The pool builder wired this, not me or my electrician.

The SWCG was working, with or without the lights, until about a week ago, when I stopped getting readings.
I don't know what to do now, I have a call out to the pool builder's service department. We'll see what they come up with.
Any suggestions?

Talk with the pool builder and tell him you want it wired correctly. Tell him you want a different tech than the one who wired what you have now.

Just look at the note on the SWCG transformer. It specifically tells you how it MUST be wired.

You did not answer my question.. Do any of the lights on the cell work at all? Do they work when the pool light is off? Do they work when the light is on?

Thanks,

Jim R.

None of the lights on the cell work right now, they used to
It doesn't matter whether the pool lights are on or off.

Previously, the cell would work regardless of the lights.
