Hi. have you seen this. I got a 123 error code on my jandy salt system. I pulled the wire off my jandy Plc1400 chlorine generator. The middle of the connector was melted and the middle terminal on the plc1400 looked corroded or melted. See pics. Just the middle one.

At this point I’ve replaced both parts andd do I’m back in business. But what would cause this? I would like to avoid it happening again.

It's pretty common.

Remove the 2 screws and then pull the cover plate off.

The water will leak at the O-ring and then the corrosion happens.

It's not a great design.

They should permanently seal the prongs instead of using an O-ring.

How old is the cell?

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know that. It’s only about 3 years old. Should I be replacing those orings annually or every few years? Also, I think the answer is no, but can I replace that metal terminal that is corroded?

Last question. Is there a cheaper equivalent to this unit.

That cell is toast you cannot fix it. You could call Jandy and see if they will send a new one for free. Maybe, maybe not. Good luck!

My only hope to keep mine from corroding too quickly is to add dielectric grease to the pins when I do my anual work on the filter and check the cell...

I am fighting a partially failing cell right now - one side is still working, so I am just doubling my normal % and seeing how long it lasts - my pins seem to be in good shape - my cell is from 2015-2016
