Our pool has 8 returns that’s split into to halves - half is “far side” and further from the pump and half is “near side” closer to the pump. I noticed today when I close the valve to the near side and all the water is directed to the far side, the pressure is about 4-6 psi higher than when I do the opposite. The only thing that’s different is that the far side pipes are farther away from the pump… would that account for the pressure difference between the two sides? Pool was built last year and I didn’t really pay attention to this part then but just noticed it now.

No significant debris in the pool and water has been clean. Normal operating psi is just above clean and has been for a few weeks so I decided to backwash yesterday and sight glass turned clear relatively quick after about 1 min.

m,

Pretty normal... it takes more effort to push the water through longer pipes.

Don't believe it, try breathing through a short piece of hose, and then through a 50' garden hose..

If you have two skimmers, the near skimmer has much more suction than the far skimmer, unless you adjust it out using Jandy valves.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes two skimmers as well. Far side skimmer is in the shallow end and near side skimmer is in the deep end. I played around with those valves too yesterday and when I shut off the main drains and isolated it to the far skimmer, water pressure was lower probably because of less suction being far away.

Last year I was paranoid about checking every step of the build making sure no cut corners, tiny leaks (which I found), etc. Hopefully my paranoia goes away and I can actually enjoy it this year!
