IntelliCenter

Hi all,
I finally got my IntelliCenter2 Wi-Fi point online. So that’s great news! The challenge I’m having now though is that it keeps going off-line. I noticed that the IP address at the Intellicenter2 changes. I have to unplug the Wi-Fi point and reboot it to get the one IP address that’s actually working to be recognized again on the IntelliCenter.

It happens at least once a day so it’s very frustrating. Any ideas on what to try?

Thank you so much

What router do you have on your network?

Are you using the Enginus Wifi kit?

A new “High Power Wireless Link Kit,” has replaced the EnGenius WiFi Link Kit (Primary Client Bridge) (P/N 522475Z). These new link kits (523557) began shipping with newer IntelliCenter bundled kits, January 30, 2021. The new kits have two (2) transceivers. One transceiver connects to the user’s router and the other connects to the IntelliCenter. The following is reported:

  • Connection range is significantly better.
  • Establishes a proprietary secure bridge between the two transceivers which automatically negotiates the connection.
  • Allows for auto configuration and formatting (plug and play).
Note: For any users that are experiencing Wi-Fi issues with the older wifi kit and if your unit is under warranty, contact Pentair Tech Support for assistance. The older wireless kits are “field replaceable” with the newer kits.

Hi, I’m using a Google wifi mesh system with 5 APs. I am using the older Engenius AP an the IntelliCenter.

Mesh networks are a problem for the WiFi box. The AP sees different networks from the mesh and gets confused.

That is why Pentair moved to a 900MHZ wireless connection.

The subnet should be the same as other devices on your network. No idea if you should change to something else or not. I believe there is a way to get it to work though.

I tried that but it keeps telling me the subnet is incorrect. This is so mind numbing. Should I dump the google set up for something else?

The IntelliCenter WiFi will likely work if you connect it to a standard Wifi Access Point .

My experince with the ENS202EXT is that its only function is to add stress to your life. There are two things fundamentally wrong with this thing. While it will negotiate a connection, it does not reliably renegotiate after it has lost connection. I did find that I could get it to work more reliably when I disabled the 802.11b functionality on my wireless network which makes sense. Still it would occasionally need the power removed and restarted. The other thing to note is that it is only 2.4ghz so if you do not have 2.4ghz enabled you will never get a connection to it.

Personally, this device on paper sounds great but it will go stupid if all the conditions aren't right. Also bear in mind that beamforming on a mesh network will sometimes cause it to have to renegotiate on a new channel. Precisely, the thing that the ENS202EXT doesn't seem to do well. Try first disabling 802.11b on your network and see if the condition improves. But in my opinion, if you want it to be reliable you should remove it before your next trash day.

Thanks. I have the newer AP en route. Hopefully this works better than the Engenius! 🤞
