What happens to muriatic acid after it is added

Muriatic acid dissociates in water to form a hydrogen cation (H+) and chloride anion (CCl-).

That is why it is also called Hydrochloric acid.

So in simple terms the hydrogen ions and the chloride ions mix in with the water.
