Lower pH

I have the Taylor k-100 test kit and just checked everything (except calcium hardness) and my alkalinity is still high and the app says to lower my pH down to 7.0-7.2 with acid, but when I check the recommendation for pH it wants me to add 11oz of borax to raise the pH. So is this when I need to go buy muriatic acid? Will that lower the pH so the alkalinity will drop?

Water is clear, very comfortable except I do have a white layer of something on my arms. I thought it was sunscreen but wonder if it’s the borax?

The app target levels are mid points of the recommended range. When you have a special situation, such as lowering TA or following the SLAM process, do what you need to do.

I would not focus on TA. Just keep pH in the 7's. The TA will resolve itself. It is the least critical factor in pool water chemistry.

Thank you! I’m now a perfectionist after a week of my new test kit so I want everything to be perfect and no exclamation point alerts 🤣
