I ordered a refill for my TF pro test kit. Everything seems to be perfect, except for the calcium hardness test. All of last year my test would come in at around 300 or 12 drops of the solution. Now when I test I'm at 24 or 25 drops in order to get it to change blue. Did something change in what TF test kits is milling out???

I've repeated the test multiple times.

I wonder if it has something to do with the tips. Once in a great while a tip can influence the size of the droplets allowing them to come out larger or smaller. Static can also be a factor for some tests. Do you happen to have the old bottles to exchange tips and test that theory? Maybe wipe the tips a bit with a moist paper towel next test as well?

@Leebo any other recommendations at this point before pursuing other actions?

Okay so I swapped all three tips from my old set for E10, R11L and R12... And I got 14, or 350 calcium hardness which makes much more sense with my previous readings.

When I just changed out the r12, nothing changed about the test so it was either the r10 or R11L tip that was different.

Now the question is, was my first kit off, or my second?

Wa-a-ay to much tip changing!

First, let me say that the tips are seldom bad......they certainly can be but they SELDOM are.

So, if you can get the tips back like they were when you got them, we can walk through a little experiment to see if there is a bad one.

What is the CH of your fill water?

I just saw your fill water of 50 ppm so fill water is not the culprit. Do you chlorinate with Calcium Hypochlorite (granular chlorine?

Will you be able to get the tips back the way they were? Rinse them in plain Tap water before putting them back.

I have a SWCG And yes I have all the tips back where they were, I have the old empty bottles of the same three solutions and just put the three on but I have them all back correct the way they shipped with the replacements now

Gotcha! So, now that all is restored, would you please take off the old tip of the old R-0012 and put it on the new bottle of R-0012. Now run the test with new R-0012 using the old R-0012 tip. Let me know.

I just reran the test after swapping out the lids back to the originals, and rinsing them out with tap water.. I got 14 or 350... I'm guessing something was clogged in one of the tips I may have solved the problem
