Solar cover question

I have a 18x38 rectangle pool im thinking about getting a solar cover for. I like to also get a reel so i can just roll it up and out.
My question is as you can see in the pic, my stairs and bench jet out from the rectangle.
Would I just get a cover that covers the rectangle part or would i have to do something custom to cover the stairs and bench?

Is it ok to just leave those parts uncovered?

Would it be less effective if I left them uncovered? Trying to minimize complexity, not so much for me but any "others" that may have to take the cover on and off.

Yes. It would be less effective. Probably a small loss in effectiveness….

Now, effective for what?
Solar cover help keep heat in the water, help prevent FC and CC loss (one is good the other not so much), prevent some pollen and tree debris from entering the pool, reduce evaporation and removes some of the appeal of a pool.

I mostly care about keeping the pool heated so I don’t have to use my gas heater as much. Keep the heat overnight and such.

You are going to have a larger (normal) heat loss in the uncovered area. It won’t defy the purpose of the cover if that is what you are asking.
