Hurry up and wait! (Katy, TX)

Hit the jackpot today. Some friends decided to redo their patio and were giving away their Polywood furniture. 2 Adirondacks and 2 loungers. I don't think I've said "I'll take 'em" so fast before :ROFLMAO:. All they need is a soapy scrub and should be good as new!

Also added some pool noodle pieces to the spa coping to comfy things up a bit more.

Nice!!!!

Watch those dark brown ones. Sitting in the sun they will get ridiculously hot! Have a friend with them. Mine are all bright colors and aren't too bad. The dark blue is the worst of them.

Yeah, I had the same thought about the brown ones, but that ought to be something easily corrected with some paint.

Thought I'd provide a bit of an update, reflecting on what is coming up to be 5 months of pool ownership. Hopefully it'll be helpful to fellow newbies, and if not I'll ramble anyway.

First off, I'm glad we went for the spa. At the beginning of this thread I was really debating whether or not it'd be worth the extra cost. I'm happy to say that we love it and use it several times a week. It is so nice to be able to heat it up at the end of a long day and go soak for a bit. The kids also got a chance to splash around and enjoy the "pool" before we can actually enjoy the pool.

Speaking of "pool", with the fall/winter build, it has been (comically) frustrating just looking at the hole in the ground and not really being able to use it. We heated it up one day in February, and the kiddos braved some chilly water these past few weeks out of impatience. Not yet at the point where we can swim comfortably. Still waiting! :ROFLMAO:

BUT, the one advantage of having cold water for these first few months is that I was able to make ALL THE NEWBIE MISTAKES and it be all ok for it since algae ain't gonna grow in cold water anyway. I've been on Easy mode of pool ownership. Now we'll see how I do as the water warms and we move into HARD MODE! Dun dun dunnn....

And to wrap up, I do gotta say, I just love Love LOVE the way the water glistens in the sunshine. The camera cannot even remotely capture the sparkles as the sun dances on the water. It is mesmerizing. I LOVE IT!

Preach! My build finished in late January, and my PB was 'taking care' of the water for 30 days after. When I took over there was no chlorine at all in it. They did put chlorine pucks in a couple of times, and even a little bit of stabilizer. But not sure they did anything else. Fortunately the water temps were in the 50's and no algae was growing when I took over. I didn't have too hard of a time getting the hang of it, but it was very nice to be able to post up results and make sure I had the right ideas on how to progress.

It's always easy mode when you have the TFP Army watching your back.

I say it alot, and I always mean it. But this time is a bit special-er.
