I have both a chlorinator and a swg. I’ve been using the swg for the past two weeks and it’s been great not having to add chlorine to my pool daily. However, my cya is 40 and I notice that my chlorine level is around 4-5ppm during the day and my pool faces sun all day as it’s east and west. Is it ok to turn off the swg and use my chlorinator with the tabs in it to help raise my cya? Or is this a bad move and I’m better off just adding cya alone.

Better to add dry stabilizer using the sock method then fool with tabs.

@colinn , I do not have a swg but I do automate my liquid chlorine with a stenner pump. When I see my cya drop I add 3 chlorine tablets at a time to a floating puck thingy. I do this for a couple of weeks and it works great. 3 tables will increase the cya about 5-6 ppm. Also reduces my liquid chlorine use during this time.
