Cannot figure out how to turn spillway off

But unless you set up the spillway function, it is more likely that your Return valve is either broken, or just set to the wrong position.

Thank you Jim,

1. I don't know why.
2.I assumed I had messed up/set something wrong when I made changes to the ET 4 (just bought the house a week ago) because the spillway was not on all the time the day I moved in. I wanted to change some settings for spa and heat, etc and those went fine... but I must have done something that impacted the spillway, but via the ET as I did not change any valve position manually.
3. There was a separate schedule for spillway which I deleted. Don't know if that had an impact.

Seems so simple... but obviously I'm missing something glaring.

If so, pushing Aux 2 should turn your Spillover on and off. To make the spillway work, your automated Return valve will need to move.. If the Return valve does not move it is more than likely broken.

If the valve does not move when you push Aux 2 on and off, then find the little toggle switch on the actuator.. It should be in one of the two "on" positions.. If it is, then turn it to the other on position and see of the valve moves..

For the spa to receive fresh water, you need the spillway to run once or twice a day for half an hour to an hour.. You really do not want the spillover to constantly run.

When you were in the EasyTouch, did you do anything to the Aux 2 Circuit?

Besides deleting the Spillover schedule, what all did you add or modify???

The actuator does move when the toggle is flipped up or down.

I can't make the actuator move from the ET Panel (out or inside)

I can turn the spillway off by having the actuator handle point up, but as the handle "runs into" the filter, I'm sure that's not the right thing to do.

IS this making sense?

Sorry... that's too hard a question.... can'r retrace my steps as I've been messing with the controller for a week trying to figure it out
I am not sure what I did, but I primarily was in schedules and circuit settings.

Sorry to be so lame on this.

So your system is running in Pool mode. Then if you move the toggle to the other setting on the Return actuator, the flow will stop going to the spa. That would be Pool mode. Then you would schedule a Spillway function (at a higher RPM setting than Pool mode) to do as Jim mentioned above to keep your spa water chlorinated.

Just to be clear... The little switch must be in one of the two on positions.. It cannot be in the middle off position.. On - Off - On.

Here is what I would do for today.. Set the Switch so that the handle of the valve points straight up... This will turn off the spillover and let the water flow back to the pool through the regular pool returns. In one on position the valve should turn so that the handle points down.. in the other on position the handle should point up.. If it does anything else, the actuator is broken. It should only move 180 degrees.. it should not try to go in a circle..

If you had ScreenLogic, we'd be done by now... :mrgreen:

I'd be glad to help you get your EasyTouch back up the way you want, but it will take a little back and forth work...

Unfortunately, my schedule is full for tomorrow until after 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Hi Jim

I did what you suggested, and it solved my problem. I did not know about the actuator toggle as it was "underneath" the housing and I didn't see it. I set the valve properly, added a new spillway schedule, and the system is performing perfectly.

Thanks much for the education, advice, and interest in helping. You made things better for a new resident in Kona, HI..
