Cellulose for cartridge filters?

No specific problem, just wondering if it would improve the filtration by reducing the size of the grid in the cartridges. But then I thought the designers probably designed the grid to be the "right" granularity, so maybe adding cellulose would make the grid too granular and increase the pressure too much. So that's why I posed the question. Of course the cellulose package says it's helpful for ALL types of filters, including cartridge filters.

I just bought new cartridges, so now is the time when I would add cellulose if I decide to do it.

Is your water not insanely clear ? I had Pentair cartridges and even being the tinkerer that I am, the thought never crossed my mind to mess with the them. Even on a densely wooded property with oaks the filter had the pool near invisible most of the time. They filter down to 10 microns.........TEN millionths of an inch.....if you can see what it doesn't pick up, I need to come eat some of your carrots. :)

Unless you are just a tinkerer too. Then the answer is no. Move on to tinker elsewhere.

Thanks Newdude! Yes, the water is clear. I'm draining some because of high Calcium (700), but when I finish that I'll rebalance and add CYA. Was just wondering about cellulose. And as I thought, it's not indicated for my situation.

Happily move along to other tinkering then :)

Friendly heads up that we’ve had some folks drain and overshoot their targets recently, and many before them. We’ll have folks available if you want to run the CYA #s past some backup eyes when the time comes. (y)
