I have no need for TFP!

Yeah, you read that right. I have no need for TFP.

Three and a half years ago I ran across this site by complete accident. I struggled to get and keep my pool clean and clear. I was yo-yoing every year -- green-blue-green-blue...

After reading and reading and asking and reading, waiting, deciding, I finally went all in, with everything in my signature. For the last year, I have put almost no effort in to maintaining our pool, other than testing and normal "stuff", like empty robot basket, filter cleaning, some light brushing, etc. The only issue I had was FC was a little higher when it colder and cloudier -- a couple clicks of a button fixed that.

So, yes, because of this group, I no longer need this group, which is kind of the point, isn't it?

I encourage anyone who can to support the site to help future generations to not need the site. ;)

PS - just because I don't "need" TFP does not mean I don't want and use it.

TFP is ironically a victim of its own success often. A struggling newb can come in, learn what they need and never return.

if it wasn’t for the overly warm and inviting sense of community, I woulda been in and out in 5 minutes. Now y’all’s are stuck with me. :laughblue:

Yeah.. I like hanging out here not just for the camaraderie.. and I am always learning something new about my pool. Having a ready source for the cheapest price on this or the best way to do that is wonderful. I doubt I will ever truly not need it.

@Newdude.. this is where you should post the Beavis bit..shhh 🤫

I am convinced that TFP brought me out of the Clean to Green cycle (rinse and repeat).
I am also convinced that my pool will KNOW that I don't need TFP anymore if I don't check in regularly, AND send in my yearly dues (donation). So I do BOTH like clockwork to avoid the revenge that I am sure my pool will take out on me otherwise! :)

I’m not sure if this story is true or not, but I’ve always loved the way it sounded……….

Years ago when Peyton Manning signed some football contract it was for a TON of money. I’m not a large football fan so I can’t give exact details, but it was for a lot. 😂 Like he could afford to maintain a pool with Baquacil amount! During an interview the host asked Manning what does he plan on doing with the cash, his answer…..”Earn it.”

Now this may not have been a true story, but I’ve always loved it. It’s something we try to do on TFP. We want to earn your support, we want to work ourselves out of a job, because I promise I can think of 10 other jobs that we can do to help pool owners. 😉 The support of all those who’ve donated have helped us make it where thousands of users didn’t need us anymore. You’ve allowed us to run the site, you’ve allowed us to do videos last year, you made it where we can do everything you see, and we thank each of you

The sad thing is that lately I have had at least three severe family issues (worst ever, honestly), and have been doing minimal TFP with minimal free time available and everything still has been stable. Can't beat simplicity, can you? I suppose I will need to kick it up a little since it's starting to warm up.. but...

I was one of the lucky ones and found TFP before I had a pool.. I have never had the green to clean or the pool store :)
That's me too. I was just at the end of my pool build when I actually started lingering around this place. I could likely walk away right now and probably never have a problem with my chemistry, since I have learned so much from this place. But like MGuzzy and Newdude said, I'm here for the sense of community and for all of the stuff I am still learning about pool construction and plumbing and backyard oasis stuff. Occasionally I am able to answer a question, and that's when I know I've actually learned some stuff.

I’m also thrilled to point out all the things I did wrong in the hopes of saving someone else the troubles. So in a way, me being a bad example can still be a good example. :ROFLMAO:

I need to hang out somewhere that my sarcasm has been appreciated. I've only been censored once here by the admins, and that's probably testament to the actual sense of humor we all have here. :)

Snarkazm and Bad Examples.. now that's what I call a recipe for a successful forum policy!

With everybody checking their attitudes at the door, any sass and saltiness can be appreciated as just all in good fun. It makes for better reads and more people want to get in on the fun. More members means more eventual donations to ensure we can all continue having fun while helping folks, which is ultimately what it’s all about.

If we *really* succede in keeping the masses involved and entertained, TFP can expand into new and exciting territory with better Vids and streamlined apps and everybody wins EVEN more.

Geeze.. listen to this 'Dude.. he really drank the Kool-Aid ;)
