Hello everyone,

I have an inground filter system for the pool and the jacuzzi.

I am having doubts if this filteration system is good as a vaccum. I am debating if I should install a vaccum. if I do drill a hole for the vaccum, will I need to refurbish the whole pool?

A robot does not need a hole in the pool. A Robot is powered by a low voltage power cord from a power center plugged into a 120V outlet near the pool. The robot has its own pump and filter.

Does anyone have used these? Are there any reviews or recommendations on these? I talked to one of the pool guys I know and he said they do not clean up good as they should. Where and what I can read to get more insight into this before making a purchase?

S,

If you are getting a robot to clean up dirt, dust, leaves etc., they work great.. If you are getting a robot to clean up algae, or to keep you from getting algae, that is not what they are for..

As far as cleaning the pool, a robot will hands-down clean better than any other form of automated cleaning.. That said, no cleaners will do your steps or sun shelf.. It will do the pool floor, walls and waterline tile. I just brush my steps into the pool itself..

Go check out our Pool Cleaner forum.. Plenty of people here use them...

Your Pool guy is just totally full of Bull Feathers...

Thanks,

Jim R.

S,

Also.. If you just want a vacuum line, there is no reason you need to "drill a hole in the pool"...

Before I found robots, I tried to use a manual pool vacuum, but I could not get the vac to operate well using the skimmer.. So I just added a line to the input to the pump, all above ground. Of course my equipment pad at that pool was right next to the pool itself.. If you look at the pic below, you can see where I could turn the Jandy valve right in front of the pump so that use the vac port (has a black cap in the picture) or the input from the skimmer, or both.. Obviously the vac hose is not connected in the pic. It worked great, but I found manual vacuuming not to be something that I enjoyed...
