What had been your experience with this cleaner? I'm ready to throw my Hayward Navigator as far over the back fence as I can fling it. I was considering a pressure side as I don't have a vacuum port and hate losing my skimmer, but I've heard from a few people now that they are pretty high maintenance.
Thoughts? On a budget....

I have a Poolvergnuegen 4X. It does what it's supposed to do; remove dirt and sediment from the bottom of the pool. I do have an accessory suction port. I previously had a Hayward Navigator and felt it did a better job of cleaning. I left it at the old house. I didn't like having to replace wings and bumpers. The PV has been completely maintenance-free for 5 years.

Most people here would tell you keep what you have for now and save up your money for a robotic cleaner. You can pick up a pretty good one for about $700 out the door.

I have avoided robots because I heard you have to put it in and take it out after each cycle. That's just too much for me...

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but I'm not sure that's true... I leave mine in all the time, and only take it out when we swim. This time of year it almost never comes out, I just hit the button whenever I see dirt in the pool and clean it every now and then. Seems to me that as long as your pool water is properly balanced, the wetting and drying of taking it in and out would be harder on the robot than just leaving it in. I know that most industrial equipment that runs wet lasts longer if it stays wet.
