156 oz to correct

Pool looks pretty good. No visible algae. Minimal turbidity.

Filter was reading 18 psi, up from 11. This was a dramatic change over last reading this AM of 11. Backwashed for 3 minutes, rinsed, and pressure now 11 again. Previously, clean pressure was 10.

A little late on my morning test... 0900

Added 156 oz for correction. Looks like day 3 is in order.

Water is crystal clear. Some small patches of algae in the usual spots. Less than previous


Work day so not sure if I can get it brushed down before 1600.

Question. How much time should there be between tests for OCLT? I feel like I might be stretching this out too far. My last test is usually 1830 and my first around 0800. That's 11.5 hours. My head says if the goal is to test without direct sunlight, then I've accomplished that. I'm just not sure how much of my OCL is algae vs insensible loss, as I assume that there is some natural loss to be expected even without sun.
 
Last test of the day needs to be after sunset. For you, that's 2000h today. Then the morning test needs to be at least 8 hours later, and before sunrise at 0530. Make sure your last test of the night is at least 30 minutes after your last addition of the day.

If you have visible algae patches, your water is not "crystal clear" to pass OCLT. You have a bit to go yet.

Noted regarding crystal clear. I mean it as a reference to the water itself as in, no detectable turbidity.

As for sun... your saying it has to be before sunrise/after sunset and not before the sun reaches the pool, correct? My pool only really sees the sun from about 0900 until roughly 1800 due to trees and other structures.

Minimal algae brushed off. Pool water optical clarity essentially perfect. No turbidity after brushing.

Water slightly more turbid than this morning. It's quite breezy and receiving plenty of samaras from an enormous ash tree stationed up wind. The wind is pushing them away from the skimmer and a quick netting session was in order. Still some signs of algae. It's mostly concentrated along the foot or so of shady bottom along one side.

Ideally, yes. You gotta do what you gotta do - sometimes work schedules etc mean it's impossible, but now that you know the proper procedure, you can make your decision on how to handle it.
