Just want to make sure the CH tests don't really matter for vinyl pools. I did the test and it was 2 drops so 50ppm. Does that number matter at all? Is that something that vinyl pools even need to be aware of?
You're fine. Vinyl pools won't etch like a plaster pool. Low CH is okay, high CH can still cause scale formation in vinyl. You're a long long long way from that. Enjoy your soft water.

You can use Effects of Adding Chemicals at the bottom of poolmath to figure out how much CH you'll add if you chlorinate with Cal-hypo. Then you can figure in advance how much you can use safely. Just don't forget you will gain a little through evaporation and topoff, too.

I test CH once in a blue moon with my vinyl pool just because the reagents came with my kit and I figured I’d get a little use out of them and for my own curiosity lol. Mine is usually 50 or 75 (hard time telling if the shade of blue changed much, tbh). It really doesn’t matter with vinyl so don’t add anything to increase it. Yours is perfect as is!
