Newbie Build - 27' Round AGP - Help Me build This OR ELSE

Hi,

Kids are stuck at home and I need to put something together for them. I got started by ordering a 27' x 54" Lomart Verona pool. I'll need to start ordering things, and working on things, and figurin' out things to get this done and I'd like to do a really nice job. I appreciate any help or input you have to offer!

I am thinking i'll need to get the groundwork figured out ASAP. Ive got a guy with a tractor that can come out here and level the area I picked out in the backyard, for probably $200. (I was previously quoted $150 for a 21' pool)

As far as the ground goes ... I was thinking of going with some kind of sand/dirt, a gorillla pad, then foam boards and foam cove. Does this sound like a good idea, or is there something better i should be doing? Existing soil is mostly sandy. Im looking at lowes and home depot, are you finding your boards for under $10 each? Looks like I need 20 of them so it can get pricey.

I like your idea of the foam on the bottom. Make sure to TRIPLE tape it. Once piece down the middle then the other two pieces on either side of the middle. Get and use GOOD tape like Gorilla tape.

There are too many to list video on how to level the ground for a pool. The MOST important part is to dig DOWN to level ground. Do NOT add dirt to bring it up. That can end badly with the compression of the dirt.

You will NEED paver under each leg. I don't care what the directions say!! You NEED them! You will dig down for each paver so it is level with the ground.

Show us where you are thinking of putting this new entertainment center!

Yes that follows in line with everything I've read. I've also heard of some sort of HVAC tape being used, possibly favored due to it's alleged thinness. Ive seen a triple tape photo, i def plan on doing that. The lomart directions I've seen online call for a 12"x12"x2" paver, i beleive i need 22 of them i will look it up to be certain.

I do have a bit of a slope on the yard, as well as a stump i just had ground down. The stump area would fall into the 1' area around the pool wall perimeter to be dug out. It was a palm tree and the remains look fiberous, and not an extensive root system like is seen with other trees in the yard. Ideally I'd like to push the pool a little farther from the home (currently drawn out in the grass at 12' 4" from home to pool wall) but that would mean pushing the pool area farther into the stump zone and I'm worried the ground would be a bit less stable there. Also it's in the low end and I don't want to dig any more than necessary.

Should I be worried about the stump? What measures should i take so this doesn't become a future problem?

Can anyone. recommend an inexpensive 4x8 foam board?

I'd stay as far away from that stump as possible. Get the biggest filter you can afford.

I was along for that ride and it was EPIC !!! BAMM !!! :laughblue:

The stump worries me. It might take alot less time to rot under the pool and need to be readdressed before its time for a new liner. If it made it to the first liner change you'd already be mostly apart anyway.

Moving the whole operation over 5-6 feet away from the stump!

think i should pull the trigger on that filter? Was planning on pairing it with a 1hp 2 speed pump. But wasnt sure if I should get side or vertical discharge

Go with a 1.5 hp 2 speed. I'm partial to DE Filters. I know how well they work. I just bought a Hayward Perflex EC 50 DE Filter.

24ft n smaller, a 1hp pump would be fine. But anything over, the 1.5 hp 2 speed would be better.

Stringer, You are talking to our most productive member and our 20th most productive member out of 200k+ members. And they are both above ground people. You may find a different way that suits your wishes or needs, But Kim and Casey will never steer you wrong.

And you should also know that this pump filter combo will probably outlive your pool shell. Buy the right equipment the first time and you'll never have to buy again unless you get an inground pool.

Hang in there for a bit. It looks good to me but of course when you need the pros, Everybody is busy that day elsewhere.
