Hi all, I was wondering if you could give me some advice about adding liquid chlorine once my pool is closed. Can I undo a corner of my mesh cover and add a gallon of liquid chlorine to the pool after it is closed? I have a gunite pool not a liner so I am not worried about bleaching. Should I have any concerns about doing this? Will the chlorine eventually mix with the pool water even without a filter running? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a couple of rips in my mesh cover so some sun gets through and I close my pool early (closing it 9/17 and the pool temp is still 68 degrees). I want to continue closing the pool early without opening to a green swamp next May. Thought adding some chlorine a month after closing and a month before opening could help.

What you propose would work to an extent, but the FC would probably get used up before the bleach reached full dispersion. Wireform's suggestion to get a small submersible pump and run it a while would work much better.

I also have a gunite pool and close my own pool, typically not until late October. (Live near Philadelphia). After my pool is closed, I add chorine about once a month to get the FC up. So far this has seemed to work as I open to a clear pool each spring when I open it in April.

I wonder if you could slip a couple pieces of tubing under your cover that you could attach to a small pump as required to 1) add LC and 2) circulate the water a little. When your done, just detach the pump and put it away.
