Thanks, yes I think it would fit too. But, as everyone is recommending, I am sold on the benefits of a Variable Speed Motor and decided to go for it.

Was all set to order the Pureline 1.65 HP model # PL2605, but after a bit more research, decided to buy just the motor from that model:
The Century V-Green 1.65 HP Variable Speed Motor (Model ECM16CU), comes with 18 month warranty and saves me a few couple of Benjamins.

And the motor it is a easy swap on my Hayward Super II pump, so I don't have to worry about cutting the pipes and stuff.

Haven't ordered it, want to talk to Inyo Pools once to make sure I didn't miss anything before ordering it.

Meanwhile my pool it getting dirty, had a rainstorm and all the debris is in the pool

Oh man..... and here I thought I got it all figured out. I wanted to avoid cutting the pipes and re-plumbing. Also, trying to keep the cost low as possible.
I will consider moving up to the 2.7 HP version (Model ECM27CU).

Would you mind giving your opinion on the the following motor & pump?

Well, according to these specs from InyoPools, my pump (SP-3015X20) already has the SPX3000BN Diffuser and the SPX3005R Wear-Ring.
Only the Impeller is different, the pump has SPX3015C and you are recommeding the smaller SPX3010C.
So, looks like I need to change only the impeller, get a new seal kit and be all set with the 1.65 hp VS pump.

I am also liking the U.S. Motors AVSJ3 EcoTech EZ Variable Speed 3HP Pool Motor for a few extra $$.

You should open the pump to verify what you have to be sure.
Your existing impeller requires at least 2.0 hp. A smaller motor will be overloaded.
