I have city water. Is it cheaper to fill up a 24 foot pool with my own water or hire a company to come fill it up? suggestions? any experience from someone would be helpful.
It depends on where you are really. I filled a 16' round (about 6K gallons) on City water about 2 years ago in the Concord NC area and it added about $150-$200 to my water bill that month.
Just this May I had 6K gallons delivered in a tanker truck to jump start filling my 14K gal pool and I believe they charged me $250.00.
You might be able to call up your water supplier and tell them what you are doing. I think my sewage charge is at least as high as the charge for water, and the city will usually only charge you an average of your sewer bill rather than sewage charges on your pool fill (assuming you are on city sewers).
Is your city water nice??
Sometimes with plaster pools its important to get water in there fast to guard against the sun drying the plaster. You don't have that problem so I'd go with which ever (city or truck) you're cozy with. If you have two spigots on your house you can run two hoses and fill that much faster!
+1 to Maddie. Be sure the water chemistry is good in your tap water and the truck water (calcium, metals, etc). That might make your decision easier. (and you thought this was a quick black and white issue! Lol!)
