Got my k-2006c today. Crud results...

Signature modified, much better now LOL.

I added those weird cylinder things that the pool store gave me. I added 12 of those but apparently it didnt do much for the CYA. I bought 3 KG of stabilizer yesterday from Home Depot (No ingredients.) I added around 1 KG this morning by hanging it in front of a return . When should I test CYA again? Tomorrow or will it show up today?

Go squeeze the sock every half hour/hour, or as often as you're nearby. It'll help it leave the sock and disperse into the water.

Did you ask your pool guy for powder or liquid stabilizer? Those sticks are weird... If you put the 12 in and they've dissolved, you should be showing some kind of increase in CYA. Are you getting a solid 20ppm now rather than filling the tube and the dot never going away as you reported a few days ago?

Also, I made a mistake on the stabilizer brand. I have used HTH in the past, but this time I bought Chlorox brand from Amazon. It worked as expected and dissolved rapidly although I am a little suspect of Chlorox brand in general (I may have been drunk when ordering it last month...). Still, I'd ask the pool guy to give you some for free. Give him that bottle of GBH oddity back next time you see him.

I switched my country on Amazon to Canada and did find that the Chlorox stabilizer can be shipped. It's $25.xx a bottle though, not $14.xx. Chlorox Stabilizer for Canada

I did not ask the pool store for stabilizer. The answer would have been, what we gave you is the best, you dont need anything other than that. Im fighting over other stuff so pick you battles, right? I bought 2 bottles of this at Home depot yesterday. https://www.homedepot.ca/product/azur-1-5-kg-stabilizer-conditioner/1000832739 .

I had a look at that stabilzer on Amazon.ca and its 50$, too pricey for my blood. Clorox Pool&Spa 10004CCN Chlorine Stabilizer, 1-1.8 kg: Amazon.ca: Patio, Lawn & Garden

Wait till all the powder has disappeared from the sock, then wait another 24 hours to be sure before testing. Once it's disappeared from the sock, assume you've got the amount you added (ppm) in the water for chlorinating purposes. If your pool math/measuring method is correct, it'll be there.

Pool store will do anything to sell you panther Tick. Trust your results, commit to only using bleach, baking soda or Borax to balance. The best method of adding stabilizer is to fill an old sock with the granules and tie it under your ladder near a return jet.
Note that we really do not refer the the BBB like this any more as most people never need baking soda or borax ... more likely to need muriatic acid.

Since stabilizer can take several days to show up on the test take your time as your add more. It is easy to add and difficult to remove. It's best to sneak up on it since you don't know what the mystery sticks were made of.

And Im assuming my SWG will last even longer since I am only using it 5 months of the year.

Sorry for the confusion on the pool depth LOL
Concrete..eesh.. Its very alkali I bet that wreaked havoc on your PH. .
The life of your SWG cell usage depends on temp of the water, PH and other chem balance., the level you run it at, the amount you acid wash it, the frequency you run it in Super-chlorinate mode... AND of course the length of your pool season.

How long does it generally take to see the PH rise with aeration alone? I have 4 kids playing in there for 2-6 hours a day and 4 deck jets running while they are playing. I'm just curious as the ph is at 7.0 and it hurt my youngest eyes this evening.

Is your TA level still above 120? With my pool, it can take a day or two, but I put the solar cover on at night and this will reduce the pH rise.

That said - your FC is 2? You need to get that up. If it goes below 2 algae could take hold. I recommend going to 6 and testing daily, then bringing it back to 6. :)

I will test the FC this evening and see what I'm at. I was surprised it was at 2 it's been higher than that every test and I havent touched the salt unit. Come to think of it I reprogrammed my vs pump to turn off for 5 hours a night where I was running 24/7 before. I guess if I do that I need to raise the % on it ?

Yes. Your SWG only produces chlorine while it's running. If it's only running 5 hours a day, but was doing good at 24 hours a day, you'll need to increase it according to the percentage of hours running.

Mack,

You can use Pool Math to estimate the amount of FC added by your SWG. I did a quick check and at 50% 19 hr run time gives you 2.5 ppm. What are your settings? If you need help setting up Pool Math let us know. We can talk you through it.
