I'm new the forum and starting to research existing threads. Previously, several years ago, I joined a forum before building a home theatre and the amount of information I learned to make the best decisions, paid off well! I'm hoping to learn the same about a pool.

I currently have a design draft, which is going through revisions. However, I will attach as a starting point. I've been steered towards salt water for less maintenance and I believe fiberglass would be the best option, with vinyl, and then concrete last. To be honest, I don't even know what questions to ask as I'm still absorbing so much information. If anyone has anything to share this early on, or links I should read, I'm very open to it. I believe my questions will quickly become more specific as I get a better understanding on things overall.

For the pool/spa specifically, try to obtain as much details as you can about things like:
- Make/model of pump(s), HP, etc
- Type of chlorination and size of SWG if applicable
- FIlter make/model/size
- Plumbing size
- Accessories to the pool
- Type of vacuuming method

 Welcome to TFP!!!

There is a ton of information in Pool School (link at the left). And there are specific section that discuss equipment and construction:

I would highly recommend going the SWG route.
Make sure you pump is a VS pump and perhaps have an automation system to link it all together.

I'm in Richmond and I'm going through the same thing right now as you, but I'm about to sign a contract. You can see my thread here that may help with some answers to some questions although seems like your budget is a lot more than mine: Fiberglass IG Pool Quote Review - Am I Crazy?

I appreciate the immediate feedback. I've jotted down notes on things to ask and questions to clarify.
