For your tests:
- FC makes sense, but I suspect you had an error on the CC reading right afterwards. You might want to double-check your combined chlorine method and/or the reagent you were using. It's easy to get them confused.
- pH great.
- TA elevated for sure, but that can be worked a bit later.
- CH is good, especially for your area
- CYA ... definitely get a sock soaking to dissolve the granular stabilizer. You want a minimum CYA of 30, so use the Poolmath app to figure out how much stabilizer to place in a sock.
- Very important ... update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info. That will help us determine more about what levels are important to you.

Adding CYA:
To increase CYA via granular stabilizer, place the required amount as calculated by the Poolmath calculator into a white sock and place in the poolside skimmer basket. For those concerned about suction flow to the pump, suspending the sock near a return jet or from a floating device will also suffice. Best never to allow undissolved granules to rest directly against the pool surface. Squeeze the sock periodically to help it dissipate. Once dissolved, consider your CYA adjusted to that programmed (target) level. CYA test readings should show a rise in 24-48 hours, however some pools may experience a longer delay to fully register. Best to confirm final CYA in about 5-7 days before adding any more stabilizer/conditioner.

You can save reagents by using the 10ml sample size testing FC. This reduces the test resolution to 0.5ppm but is adequate for proper sanitation. Check the Taylor directions for method.

Been stairing at it for 8 months
Will drop double socks ASAP

I would get the stabilizer in first only because if your FC is truly 4.6, that's a bit harsh without any CYA. Once the stabilizer dissolves though, hop in for sure. :swim:

For now, definitely increase the FC right away. Too low equals algae. Use regular bleach and the PoolMath tool to add about 6-7 ppm of free chlorine. I'd do that as soon as possible.

Once you get in a groove and the chemistry seems predictable to you, we can discuss possibly lowering the TA a bit, but no rush. Focus on controlling and maintaining the FC as noted on the FC/CYA Levels.

According to K-2006C wheel calculator , saturation index is 0.3

Up to you but the CSI in Poolmath is better to use than the LSI from Taylor.

Thinking 12 hour pump cycle overnight
Any thoughts on day vs night or cover open/closed

Pump Run time

How do you chlorinate? That is the primary driver of pump run time.

If you leave the cover open at night, your pool water temperature will approximate your overnight air temperature in our dry climate.

Return jet question
So the contractor winterized new pool.
I haven’t heard back , so I’ve opened it up myself
There are 4 ports at the same elevation
2 on one wall
1 on opposing wall
1 on shallow end wall
3 of them have flow , 1 does not
I’ve capped others systematically and nothing still from the one
Could it be for something else ?

Post pics of your equipment and valves. Could be a valve closed. Could be a cleaner line. Could just be low flow that you can't really feel.

When I opened the cleaner valve to check intake port , I found the 1/2 line on auto chlorine dispenser ( which I don’t use ) had blown off a while later

Lucky to catch it , small 1/2 black blew off and was flooding yard
