Hi all, relatively new but found everyone extremely helpful in getting my pool chems sorted. I’ve got a weird one, looks like there’s algae in the skimmer box only.. is this of a concern ? Thanks.
Good catch Alex. Algae is all around our pools and is prevented from getting established in our pool by maintaining proper FC levels. The algae around your skimmer lid is technically outside of your pool but can readily move into your system with rainfall, splashing or sprinklers. Of course with proper sanitation levels it would stop this small algae invasion but why not use some prevention and treat this area with a bleach/water solution in a spray bottle. Auto fill water systems are another potential source of algae addition to pool systems from stagnant water in the plumbing system.
I noticed the Algae after the last down pour we had here. I've put some chlorine on it and there she goes. Looks like the concrete is still wet! I'm not sure why thats the case - pool was only freshly pebblecrete about 6-8months ago.
