Pool almost empty?

Hi,
Before we closed pool last fall we had pool checked for leaks and nothing was found. Today weather was warmer and I peeked under cover and in our deep end which is 8’, there was at most 2’ water? This is our second spring with pool, and when we bought the house we ere told the liner was approximately 1 year old.

Not sure what to do? We have pool scheduled to open 4/17. We also have ordered a solar cover and reel that should come that day too, and now I wonder how it will be at the end of the pool as we have diving board on one end and steps at shallow end?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

That is unfortunate. I would contact your pool maintance folks, a builder, or someone in your area who knows pools to get that liner looked at ASAP. I suspect the leak stopped somewhat near the actual tear, but if you have a main drain (w/ hydrostatic valve) that should be inspected as well. You don't want the pool that low for too long or else you run the risk of having other complications from movement. I sure hope you get that resolved soon. Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you so much. Pool company has responded and said to fill pool and they will be here Tuesday to check it.

Will keep posted! I must admit I am a little nervous...
 
Check your equipment area and make sure your multiport valve was set to "closed" and not left on "waste" or "backwash" by accident. If it had and you've got a main drain you could have had a slow siphon over these months which might explain it?

looks like the water level is right at the light. may very well be the light niche or something at that level and the water has stayed there. they will know what to do, they will put more water in it, pull the light out of niche, and dye test it. maybe a serious repair if the niche or light piping has rotted out

I talked with our pool man, and he said they will be coming before opening pool to check light. He also said something about a valve in drain at bottom of deep end. He said people have been having their valve open with the weather we’ve been having? He will check that as well.

Any idea how much repairs could be? Even ball park?
 
You have a liner pool you would not have a hydrostatic valve most likely that would be a concrete pool. If it's a gasket or simple repair a few hundred range. If the conduit or light niche is bad it will require opening the deck and digging to replace it all and maybe even a liner if ita older and brittle. Big IF on that damage but you could possibly seal off light and deal with it down the road at liner time and ditch the light. These are all guesses based on water level in your pics. Watch the water level for now if it stays there you can probably bet on the light whether gaskets or worst
