Put the aeration manifold in. This time I didn’t cover the end 4 feet of the pool closest to the stairs with the solar cover, but the vinyl cover is full on. Every time before this, I covered the entire surface of the water with the solar cover, and also put on the vinyl cover. Previous results were underwhelming (crap scientific method likely). I’m hoping I misunderstood the “aerate to raise Ph” process in the sense that the rise in Ph isn’t happening the moment the air bubble forms (under the water), and instead happens only when the bubble meets “open air”…which it likely never did efficiently because the air bubbles were coming out under the solar cover every time I’ve attempted this previously.

I had a hard time reading the CYA, usually the sky isn’t white (wildfire smoke from Canada) when I do the test. It might not actually be as high as 50, I was aiming to get it to 40.
The aeration pump ran for just under 24 hours and I turned it off as soon as I tested the Ph as it had already come up to 7.6. I didn’t test the Ph after I added dry acid, but I was aiming at it not being lower than 7.2. It seems now that I’m not using trichlor the aeration mechanism is working well. When I was using trichlor, the Ph didn’t really come up an appreciable amount during a single 48 hour test.

Add ~200ml of Orb-3 Spa Enzymes. Apparently you are supposed to add it twice per week but the last dose was 12 days ago. The “opening” amount suggested is 340 ml, and maintenance is half, so 170 ml. I’ll be adding 200-ish when it’s less frequent than twice per week. I think I’ll add it more aligned with bather load, meaning when a bunch of people, or when I know oils are going to be high, will trigger more frequent dosing. Otherwise, I’ll stick to a couple few times per month as opposed to the recommended 8 times per month until I have regular income again.
