REMOVED COVER to a crystal clear pool!!! Only uncovering today, not a “full open” (supposed to rain Thursday & Friday and didn’t wanna deal with a cover full of water since it’s 100% dry right now). AND GETTING READY TO “FULLY” OPEN THE POOL ON SATURDAY!! Cleaned pump, cleaned filter, put a brand new cartridge in, bought some new reagents and cleaning supplies, etc. Water is currently 57 degrees and will be adding about a foot of hose water after pump/filter are hooked up! Let water sample warm up for several hours before CYA test (water temp was super cold when I collected it….around 50 degrees!). CYA results still seem high to me (I could just barely see the dot at 80 and it was gone right after the 60 marker, so I’m not sure if the water is still too cold. Going to let my sample bottle sit a little longer near heat vent and hopefully try it again before sunset.

Running pump for a few hours before testing water to “mix it up” and get more accurate results after turning it off for a couple hours to clean it earlier.
Brushed and scooped a ton of leaves and debris from in the pool. There’s weird brown dirt/silt stuff on the floor and I don’t know what it is. Some of it will kick up dust when I brush and some spots I have to brush a couple times bc it’s kind of slick looking (I don’t know how to word this, sorry…I’ll post pics of TFP.) Will probably SLAM to be safe as soon as I can test my CYA (water too cold). My goal was 50, but some tests might have been 60. Ugh.

FOR TFP EXPERTS: Weird brown dirt/silt looking stuff on the bottom where the wrinkles are that keep coming back very shortly after I brush it. Some of it looks like “slick” streaking/small lines, if that makes sense. Brought FC to SLAM level just to be safe. Probably a filter issue…we don’t know yet. Annoying. Burning through chlorine super fast despite CYA supposedly @ 50ppm or so. Water is super clean, crystal clear, no chlorine smell, no cloudiness, everything looks really good. No way my FC should be 7.5ppm after dumping 88 ounces of 7.5% bleach yesterday evening, after testing my FC that was super low for me. Hope it’s just the sun and extreme heat and high water temperature. **Leaving this note in case I need to ask questions on TFP. It’s my journal, don’t judge me lol**

Rained all night/morning and it’s POURING right now and has already accumulated at least an inch. Water sample was taken and tested right before the current huge storm, so the numbers will change. Mainly testing because of FC.
