not testing pH after adding acid. at this point I know its reacting almost exactly as the calculator is saying because I nailed my TA throughout this process...crucial!!!

fountain all night this time
tested TA...turned reddish and held at 6 drops. turned good red solid at 7. means 6.5 aka 161ppm TA as I expected. I'M SO HAPPY!!! CHEMISTRY understanding WORKED!
so happy my acid additions are lining up to the expectations of the TA values I guessed using precise addition and "Effects of Adding" - subtracting what it gives me for TA every time. :] the key was figuring out how many ounces lowers TA by 1 ppm. figuring out HOW MUCH ACID I needed from this point was easy... 6oz/1ppm TA * (current TA - Target TA) = AMOUNT OF ACID NEEDED TO LOWER TO IDEAL TA. KEEP IN MIND YOU CAN ONLY ADD SO MUCH ACID AT ONCE! MUST AERATE TO BRING PH BACK UP AND SAFELY ADD MORE ACID!

TA decrease by 27 from 128oz + 34 oz. aka 160oz of chlorine. pH is at 7.1 with TA of 215 as expected. pH should next be calculated with TA of 188!

cant explain it.....honestly can't. how does it go from 22 to 32? I didnt add 1 gallon! makes no frikken sense. I am glad I confirmed OFCLT before this. CC came out zero though!

swg turned off at noon. tested now. 10 ppm FC. lost 7ppm over the course of the day.
hell lost 24 Fc to 17....is the sun that strong?

With SLAM done - bringing FC to Mustard/Yellow Algae shock levels of 24-26FC. added 117oz chlorine. cranked up swg to 70% to offset sun tomorrow...*shrug* rather do this than buy more chlorine suddenly. pump will run for 24 hours more tops. turns off overnight tomorrow at midnight!

OFCLT passed. pretty sure its not 1ppm. 17 FC was barely pink. this one disappeared at 16. so maybe .5ppm loss. CC = Clear

I need to start finding out how much FC my pool goes through in my enviornment. this will help me determine what % to set my SWG. before I do this, I need to SLAM and pass slam. in the meantime I have SWG helping maintain SLAM levels before I attempt to do OFCLT. If the OFCLT passes...let the FC drift to normal but err on the side of more chlorine than the lower end of the FC range for my CYA. IF THE AMOUNT OF FC being lost is too excessive since my pool is in the sun 100% of the day beating down on it, I may need to raise CYA to 70. its currently at 45 CYA give or take...but I appreciate that number because SLAMING is quicker...but maybe I'm making a mistake where I'm having to slam again and again. its not supposed to be this hard I'm sure. its a matter of me not tracking FC levels appropriately... also the fact I had to acid clean my SWG after only 7 months means scaling is happening. I had high pH...but my TA is high which sucks but even a near full drain and fill didnt help things much. TA seems to increase over time if acid is not constantly added...which admittedly I dont do enough or on time....I need to do that....

Performed a OCLT. FC was brought to SLAM level...I know it only had to be 3 ppm chlorine...but I ended up slamming anyways... it will take 2 to 3 days to get my liquid stabilizer... FC was 15 (5 over target of 10) CC was .5 FAS DPD done via 2006C Taylor Test Kit. OCLT PASSED! 😁

tried to lower pH and aerate with a pressure washer for 2 hours. was brutal...didnt seem to affect TA much. didnt seem to raise pH all that much either (odd)! left it alone and proceeded to focus on FC. 😅 yes..I know CYA should be 30...but given I hardly have sun atm in winter...im taking advantage of the low CYA to adjust for the time being! I'm trying to trust that over time, TA lowers naturally. At least I got calcium hardness down from 600!

drained pool 55% to lower CH from 600. pool tap water is 8pH, TA 90, and CH between 125 and 150. I averaged to 130 for draining. this should lower TA and require more acid again....
