    Need recommendations for equipment upgrade

Hey all, Hoping to get a little guidance from the smart folks here. I've learned a lot about pools from the group here, but there's a ton I don't know. I want to refurb a pool, but would appreciate a guiding hand or hands. I went to my mom's this weekend to help her out around the house and...

Perfect Ph with low TA, but then ...

With the TA reading at 70, my course of action now is to balance the Ph and dial in the dispenser. I'm not sure what was happening before with the low TA, but the test readings seemed to be accurate. I was manually putting in some acid as part of cleaning calcium build up off of spillway...

Perfect Ph with low TA, but then ...

Back from the test.. TA reads 70 now (turned red on the last drop, so 70? maybe 60) Ph is reading 7.9. That's with my calibrated meter. My earlier reading this morning was based on the drop test/color match. Ph was redder than the scale with that method.

Perfect Ph with low TA, but then ...

I did test the TA several times to ensure it wasn't a single bad reading. It's possible my TF100 chemicals are past their shelf life. I'm going to test again in a moment to see where I'm at. I'll return with those readings. "Dialing up the dispenser" is referring to adjusting the IntellPH...

Anyone know what is in Leslie's Perfect Weekly?

No idea what it does, but I've had my pool for three years now. I've used the TFP method exclusively and maintained my own chemistry. It's worked great! My pool is always ready to swim in. It has been cloudy at times, after storms, or if I haven't kept up with my filter cleaning ..also in...

Perfect Ph with low TA, but then ...

Just wanted to know what you think about this? For the last month or so I've been testing my C and Ph pretty regularly, but I put off a more in-depth TF100 work up. My C has been running 4-5 and my Ph has been a rock-solid 7.3-5. I finally got around to checking my TA and CH, and TA was...

What's involved with re-arranging rocks in a waterfall?

Our pool has a spa with a natural stone spillway that cascades into the main pool. Since it was built less than a year ago, I've had the PB come out three times over the last year to reseal/regrout where water starts leaking through the grout from the spa. It's not a big deal, the water falls...

    Feeling Triumphant

Good question about the FC with a CYA of 70. With the SWG I can get away with running a little less FC. From the reading I've done here, it sounds like this is based on test and observation, rather than a detailed understanding of the chemistry, but I did see someone hypothesize that the SWG...

    Feeling Triumphant

This is my first summer with a pool, so I'm still a newbie but I have been learning a lot from this site! Thanks so much to everyone who has given me feedback on the various issues! I've been using the TFP method since day one, and couldn't be happier. The water is clean and sparkling. My...

Algae or ..? Can't tell what's going on.

Pool is crystal clear, water is blue, FC is 15, CC 0, PH 7.5.

Algae or ..? Can't tell what's going on.

Well, after the huge rainstorm we had yesterday I decided to end the SLAM. The water had been clear for a while, anyway. CCs were <= .5. In fact, I don't even know if there was any algae at all, or if it was just pollen. Cleaning the cartridges (which were in no way pressure bound) and...

Algae or ..? Can't tell what's going on.

I've been checking every couple of hours. The severe thunderstorm that hit early this morning has really thrown me off. The OCLT FC reading is now 20.5ppm where last night's was 24ppm ..but with what might be 3/4 an inch of rainwater introduced, I believe that would invalidate the test.

Algae or ..? Can't tell what's going on.

Current picture. Last night it was clear but a little cloudier than tonight.

Algae or ..? Can't tell what's going on.

Current reading is FC 24. The water is clearer than it was yesterday evening. Got the wife to confirm! Going to add a bit more bleach to raise the level in case there is still overnight loss. Don't want to drop below SLAM level over night.

Central Texas Pollen - Update with Storm mess

We have a live oak that hangs over our pool. Our robot and skimmers kept up with it, sometimes emptying the skimmers two or three times a day. The pollen though ..wow ..i'm sort of convinced it turned our water green for a while! doing SLAM process now just in case its algae, but our water...
