Moss Rock weeping wall 10 years later with pics - what I learned...

Suz, I found the album in Picture Trail and supplied a link. There are other pics on a CD somewhere but can't locate it. The pool was supposed to be bigger but there is a 10' easement running across the entire back yard so had to settle for what it is. The backhoe actually barely nicked the main...

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

That's something I didn't think of! Thanks. I removed the light and cleaned all the junk out of it. They left a lot of stuff in there when they installed it 10 years ago. Didn't notice anything horrible algae wise but vacuumed and cleaned it out with the pool blaster and a brush.

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

Ok I'll hold off. Have a Color Logic light but doesn't work anymore and conduit is crushed apparently so no light from here on out unfortunately. I am vigorously brushing with the steel brush. Quite the workout!

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

SWG is set to 0% Keypad said chlorinator off. Ok I will test again this evening and see where the FC and CC is, then do an OCLT in the morning. LOL the wife is not liking these high FC levels. She says it's hard on her swimsuit! I am determined to get this resolved though. I'll pick up more...

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

I guess I am confused. I went by the chart per SLAM procedures; I actually exceeded that. 40% of CYA would be 12 for a CYA of 30. I did 28 PPM and after 4 days it was still above the recommended shock level per the chart. It actually still is above the level for 30 CYA. Maybe I need to raise...

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

I turned the SWG off as chlorine levels were greater than the recommended shock level for 4 days after dosing. The recommended shock level for 60 CYA is only 24 and at a CYA of 30, my shock level exceeded that for 4 days. At a CYA of 30, the non SWCG is only 12 and I am still exceeding that value.

Pool chemistry numbers, still have high CC

I have been battling a small outbreak of black algae on the entry steps - the 2 steps closest to the water surface. 9 days ago I added a minimum amount of copper algaecide (9 ounces) and began scrubbing the whole pool with a stainless steel brush. There appears to be no trace of any remaining...

DE through returns on pump start-up

Thanks for the replies. The pump does stay primed when not being used. I turned the pump off and waited about an hour and when I turned it back on, no DE came out this time. I will keep an eye on it and see if it clears up. If not I will take the filter apart and check everything. I may just...

DE through returns on pump start-up

I installed new Hayward DE grids in my DE6020 with Hayward Select A Flow valve and added the recommended 7.5 pounds of DE. I noticed today when I turned on the pump, a ight stream of DE comes out of the returns. I only noticed it because the sun was shining directly over one of the returns...

Advice needed on a pvc fitting

Thanks Scott, I can easily get 3/4" inside which would actually bottom out the pipe at the stop in the union.

Advice needed on a pvc fitting

I am replacing my pump and only have a short distance to connect the discharge to existing plumbing. The standard 2 7/8" coupler is going to be a little tight but the half size coupler will work, however that only gives me a 3/4" section of 2" PVC to reach the stop in the coupler. (see pics) Is...

Moss Rock weeping wall 10 years later with pics - what I learned...

It has been a while since I visited the site (been enjoying the pool)! I attached some pics of the wall after all these years. First off, the hardness of these stones varies from hard aggregate to soft sandstone. The softer rock did erode as expected. What I noticed most is after a rain, there...
