    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

Thank you for the pool cover input... Will need to think now on this... We have minimal leaves blowing in the pool, the pool is completely fenced (keeping most creatures and kids out, but the frogs are loving the pool reno). Thinking of the covering and uncovering though... Any thoughts on those...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

Will start looking for all the pool dining ware. Definitely no glass at the pool - we have tile floors in the house and dropped a glass a couple years ago . . . I just swept up another shard :( I just order the Suncast hose reel (another sale item). And am stalking the other items . . ...

Okay, just ordered my first two small Suncast end table storage containers (Walmart had them on sale) and will continue to add to my collection as more items go on sale (I'm a huge after season buyer). Husband ordered the robot and is researching the solar cover with reel. Already have various...

LOVE these tips - especially the towel one! So, with the pool done, there are A LOT of ancillary items we hadn't considered (don't know why, just hadn't). We've since purchased the brushes and skimmer nets and water temp gauge. What are some of everyone's, "I wish I had gotten this sooner"? or...

Thank you, everyone for your support, encouragement, and advice. Looking forward to warm weather and our first pool party. The teen boy may have already dove in - and jumped immediately out - something about the 50F water temp, but he was all smiles. Pool reno - $$$; memories - priceless. ~...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

Our contractor has a great eye and made suggestions we hadn't even thought about (with regard to tile placement and pool functionality - not everything was a change order :) ). It's estimated at 50k gallons, will have a better idea when the water bill comes in (yikes). As for testing, we'll be...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

Ladies & Gentlemen . . . We have a POOL! The pictures aren't great (with these short days, I'm usually leaving and getting home when it's dark). Will take the drone up to get some aerial shots, but I can't believe it's here. We're going to sit back and look at it for a bit, and then on to...

The economics of a pool decision.

We looked into liner (could only find one PB out of the 10 we called), but the cost of the liner and needed repairs was only a "little" less then fixing the pool in shotcrete & stonescape finish. Keep in mind, this was an abandoned pool and we were basically starting from scratch. And vinyl...

The economics of a pool decision.

We are in the process of converting our IG vinyl liner pool to a standard shotcrete pool. And I will say, as much as I enjoy swimming, I don't think we would have taken on this project if we didn't have kiddos. It seems to me, the ROI on a pool project is almost always in intangibles, not money...

Quite a busy week. Started installing rebar, had a fire delay, finished installing rebar, finished shotcrete, and starting framing for coping. Check here for new (and old) pics. Happy Tuesday, everyone. We're almost swimming!

So, I'm a bit roundish when it comes to measurements (I know, doesn't make for the best construction) but if I remember correctly, our PB said the shallow end would be 3.5' deep (bottom to half-way up the waterline tile). We have also decided to put in a seat in one of the corners at the deep...

All new plumbing - wouldn't guarantee otherwise. I believe two skimmers. Depth of 3' - 7' (we've removed the diving board) There are also a lot more pipes (returns?) installed and we added two lights (previous pool had none).
