Pentair SWG IC40 PB & Install or DIY??? Before I get cement shoes for PB!!

I have a Hayward SWCG that I installed myself. It was an easy DIY project. I looked up the installation manual for the IC40 and it looked like it was just as easy. Plus you will save a lot of $$$. I'm sure someone who owns an IC40 will be along shortly.

    Vacuum hose question

My pool also has a 2" line from the skimmer. I use a skimmer plate that fits in the skimmer with the skimmer basket still installed. The plate has a connection on it for 1-1/2" hose. If you search on Amazon for "skimmer vacuum plate" you will see what I mean. This way if you vacuum up leaves...

    New to Pools- "jumping" in

I plumbed mine in after the filter and before the SWCG. They run off the main pump. I ran a separate line to each one with a valve on each line so the flow could be controlled.

    New to Pools- "jumping" in

We used the Pentair Magic Stream II. I bought a set of 4 online for 250.00. The builder just charged for the labor and additional materials. I don't have a break down for just this, since several additional add ons were group together.

    New to Pools- "jumping" in

My 2 Cents worth. 1. We like the SWCG for the convenience. 2. I have all Hayward Products and a Pentair pump. Both seem to be about the same quality. 3. I like a cartridge filter since with a SWCG I do not want to back wash since I will lose some salt. 4. Have you given any consideration...

    Deckjets- are they worthwhile?

We completed our pool install 2 months ago. We installed a set of 4, Pentair deck jet IIs. So far it has been the best add-on to the pool we made. We plumbed each one individually back to the pump pad so we could adjust the flow.

Pentair Whisperflo 2 speed pump tripping breaker

Can you post a picture of the wiring diagram on the side of the motor.

    Confused on timers.

The specs on the timer you have says that it is good for up to a 2HP motor if it is wired for 240V. If yours is wired for 240V, you should be fine. Also the timer enclosure is a Nema 3R rating, so it is fine to be installed indoors or outdoors.

    variable speed pump

Re: variable speed ump Take a look at the Affinity Laws on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affinity_laws. Basically if you double the pump RPM, the head will go up by a factor of 4. Hope this helps.

    Pool Light Failure

Yes that is correct. There should be enough cord in the light niche to allow you to place it on the deck in order to change the bulb. You tube has some videos of the process.

Hello, Welcome to TFP. That is a nice job of documenting the Hayward SWCG repair in your signature. I just installed the same unit.

    Well water.

We are just getting ready for our pool install. In the past I have noticed what appeared to be rust in the well water supplying our house water fixtures. Rust type stain in sinks and toilets. After searching the internet, I have found that this is actually a bacteria that feeds on the iron in...

    DIY Waterfall?

Hello everyone. I am wanting to build a water fall for an inground pool. Something along the lines of fake rocks built from a styrofoam type material, so it can be removed and stored in the winter time. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with this type of project. Also the...
